ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — Six people were arrested Thursday one day after a fatal stabbing at an Escondido park.Police say they arrested six juveniles, ranging in age from 14 to 17 years old, for homicide in connection with the death of 37-year-old Mauricio Renteria, of Escondido.Police say a group of roughly 20 people were involved in a fight at Grove Park shortly before 8:30 Wednesday night. Officers responded to find Renteria with multiple stab wounds and head trauma on the ground. (KGTV) -- The Escondido Union School District is choosing to start the new school year online, and the district is also pushing back its start date to August 25.The decision was approved at the Board of Education meeting Thursday night.The board also approved two hybrid learning options for when the school district is ready to resume in-person classes.For grades kindergarten through 5th, the "Modified Classic" will provide students with four half-days on campus and one day of remote learning.For grades 6th through 8th, the "Two-Day Hybrid" will provide students with two full days on campus and three days of remote learning.EUSD does have plans to reopen its campuses by the end of September; however, the board and district said they would both continue to monitor the health conditions and make changes as needed. 848

Family members of a Tennessee woman accused of ramming a security barrier at the White House said she is mentally ill and needs treatment.Jessica Ford went before a judge Thursday after police in Washington, DC said she plowed into the White House fencing and was immediately taken into custody by the Secret Service.It was Ford's fourth and most dramatic effort to gain access to the White House in recent months. She was charged with three felonies.The question of why Ford did what she did was no mystery. Her family said she suffers from a mental illness and that they actually warned the Secret Service last week that Ford, armed with a BB gun, was again headed for the White House.The 35-year-old insists her children live in the White House, and told the judge in court that her fiance is the President. "She is very delusional. She thinks her children are in the White House. That's why she keeps going up there," said Victoria Walls, Fords' cousin.In Ford's most recent attempt to get to the White House, she thought it was the holiday season."She decided when she left (last week) it was Christmas Eve, and I got to be there by Christmas Day," said her mother Alice Wilson. Authorities were watching for Ford since her family called to warn them that she was in route with plans to ram a gate."I said you can't go do that. They will kill you," said Walls.Ford still went and the Secret Service was waiting."I think that's the reason they didn't kill her, because they knew she was coming and knew she had a BB gun," said Wilson.Ford faces felonies and possibly years in prison."Oh, I love her with all my heart," said Wilson. She said her daughter needs help. ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) -- The identity of the third victim in the Encinitas bluff collapse has been identified. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner, 62-year-old Elizabeth Charles also died in the collapse. Her sister, Julie Davis and niece Anne Clave were also killed when the bluff gave way. A 30-foot by 25-foot slab of rock came crashing down onto Grandview Beach at about 3 p.m. Friday.Moments after the collapse, beachgoers and lifeguards began sifting through the rubble to save those caught in the rocks' path."The lifeguard was there, adjacent to the incident, felt it, heard it. It just happened to take place outside of his peripheral, as he was watching the water it happened behind him," Encinitas Lifeguard Captain Larry Giles said. "He immediately got out of the lifeguard tower, called it in, sized it up, started requesting resources and engaged in doing rescue work.
