SHANGHAI, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Monday agreed to deepen their all-round cooperative partnership.     The agreement came at the end of a day-long foreign ministers' meeting in Shanghai, involving Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada and ROK Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Yu Myung Hwan. The three countries will build stronger strategic mutual trust, deepen and upgrade cooperation, carry out people-to-people exchanges and promote east Asia cooperation and regional peace and development, said a statement issued after the meeting. BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong Sunday stressed the importance of nurturing more first-class financial personnel for the nation.     Liu made the remarks when visiting the Beijing-based Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) to convey congratulations on its 60th founding anniversary.     CUFE is the first university specialized in financial and economic studies established by the People's Republic of China. It is one of the 100 universities to which the Chinese government attaches top priority in the 21st Century.     Noting that finance is an important state function, and the core of modern economy, Liu expected the university to play a better role in cultivating innovation-oriented financial talents.     She also called on the university to contribute more to the national and local development programs.

Su Ning, Vice Governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC) made the remarks in a meeting held in the bank's Shanghai-based headquarter, saying a proactive fiscal policy and moderately easy monetary policy were crucial for sustained growth.     Despite an initial economy recovery resulted from the government's stimulus efforts in the first half, the country still faced severe difficulties and challenges from both domestic and abroad.     In the second half, the PBOC would use a set of monetary policy mix to coordinate a "reasonable" credit structure based on market rules, and to ensure more loans to major infrastructure construction and technology innovation, Said Su.     China's economy rebounded to grow 7.9 percent in the second quarter driven by a surge of fixed-asset investment backed by government's 4-trillion-yuan stimulus package on last September.     Chinese banks lent a record 7.37 trillion yuan in the first half to shore up the economy, which sank to 6.1 percent in the first quarter.

PYONGYANG, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Monday attended a grand celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations and the closing ceremony of the China-DPRK Friendship Year.     In a speech delivered at the May Day Stadium in Pyongyang, Premier Wen said China and the DPRK have understood, supported and helped each other during the past 60 years despite changes in the international situation.     The ruling parties and peoples of China and the DPRK have steadily promoted the development of the bilateral ties, contributing to regional peace and stability, Wen said.     This year marks the China-DPRK Friendship Year, featuring a variety of celebrations and events of exchanges, which have enhanced the friendship between the two countries, strengthened cooperation in various fields and injected new vitality into the bilateral ties, Wen said.     Currently, China-DPRK relations have arrived at a new historic point, he said.     China is ready to join hands with the DPRK to further consolidate and develop the traditional friendship, expand friendly exchanges and cooperation to better serve the well-being of both peoples, and make greater contribution to regional peace and stability, he noted.     DPRK Premier Kim Yong Il, who also attended the event, said the establishment of DPRK-China relations 60 years ago was an epoch-making event and the DPRK is firmly determined to consolidate and develop the DPRK-China friendship.     The events marking the China-DPRK Friendship Year have effectively promoted the friendship and trust between the two peoples, he said.     The DPRK is ready to make joint efforts with China to further the friendly, cooperative relations, he said.     During the celebration, the leaders watched the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" presented by DPRK artists.
