Officers with the Irving Police Department found the woman, Betty Thomas, dead in her home at about 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12. “Upon arrival, officers discovered 83-year-old Betty Thomas deceased from multiple stab wounds,” said Media Relations Officer Robert Reeves. The next day, police say they arrested 43-year-old Roy James Holden Jr. in Mesquite, Texas, and charged him with capital murder in connection with Thomas’ death. “We do know that the suspect worked for a utility service provider and that is how he knew Miss Thomas,” said Reeves.
