Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday he is not sending senators home until there is a coronavirus stimulus bill that has been approved by the chamber.“The Senate is not going anywhere until we have COVID relief out the door. We're staying right here until COVID relief is out the door,” McConnell said.As far as the status of negotiations?“Conversations are still underway and making progress on the major pandemic relief package we've all been seeking for the American people. Southwest Airlines will look less like a zoo.Passengers will be allowed to bring only cats and dogs on board as emotional support animals beginning in September, and only one per customer. The animals must be on a leash or in a carrier at all times.Southwest says passengers will need to present a letter from a doctor or licensed mental health professional on the day of departure.The airline will also limit the types of trained service animals in the cabin. Only dogs, cats and miniature horses will be allowed. Service animals are specially trained to help people with disabilities.Fliers have become increasingly bold in bringing animals on planes.In January, a woman reportedly tried to board a United Airlines flight with an emotional support peacock. Delta says passengers have also flown with "comfort turkeys, gliding possums known as sugar gliders, snakes, spiders and more."Since the beginning of the year, American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta and United have all introduced rules similar to Southwest's.The airline industry has called on the Transportation Department to update its guidelines for animals on planes. Sparked by new records in California, Florida and Texas, Wednesday marks the most recorded coronavirus cases in a single day in the United States.Data compiled by Johns Hopkins University generally is not updated until the following morning, but official state-by-state data shows at least 37,000 new reported cases on Wednesday. That figure would make for the most cases reported in a single day, according to Johns Hopkins University data.The Atlantic’s COVID Tracking Project confirms a record of more than 38,000 US cases on Wednesday.The three largest US states set new records on Wednesday:California 7,149Florida 5,508Texas 5,489While Arizona did not set a new record on Wednesday, it did see a record for hospitalizations since the start of the pandemic.The reported cases is only a snapshot of the spread in the US, as there is a lag time between the onset of cases and when they’re reported to state departments of health.While President Donald Trump has suggested the rise in cases is due to an increase in testing, that alone does not explain the surge in cases in Florida, Texas and California.“Testing of course means finding cases, that is why we test,” said Dr. Ali Mokdad, Chief Strategy Officer for Population Health at the University of Washington. “But the increase in cases that we report is adjusted for testing and in many places we see a rise of cases due to increased spreading of the virus and not testing. We see a rise in Florida, California, and Texas that are true increases in cases. In other states, like NY, for example, they tested about 60K and now their % positive is coming down.”Tuesday marked the most recorded coronavirus cases in the US in nearly two months as cases dropped off in May amid stay at home orders. SOLANA BEACH (KGTV) - The heat wave is creating a stomach-turning sight at some of San Diego's North County Beaches.Water temperatures near 80 degrees are keeping local beaches packed. Lili Waters spends a lot of time at Table Top Beach, just north of Fletcher Cove, in Solana Beach. Tuesday was not the perfect beach day she expected."Normally, this is a really nice beach, but it's been absolutely horrible today," said Waters.She noticed an unusual amount of kelp and flies along the shoreline."Then, I looked down and I was like, hey, kids there's maggots all over the ground and they're like what, I said look down there's maggots and then they started running," said Waters.Seagulls are feeding on the maggots which are all over the beach near the piles of kelp."It's pretty disgusting," said Waters.What's disgusting to beachgoers is actually important to the marine life."As the kelp breaks down, the flies create larvae, and then the birds eat the larvae, the larvae is washed into the ocean, the fish eat the larvae it creates nutrients and food for shore birds," said San Diego Lifeguard Captain Jason Shook.Shook said the heat is killing the kelp which is attracting flies. Beaches from Torrey Pines to Carlsbad may see large piles of kelp wash up during the summer months."Those large reefs trap the kelp and then the kelp washes a shore in that area," said Captain Shook.Some visitors complained to lifeguards, but there's little they can do."It happens generally in the warmer months and it usually coincides with the grunion season, which is March through the end of August. So, then we are restricted on our beach-raking areas. We are not allowed to rake the beach along the high tide line so the kelp will build up a little bit," said Captain Shook."There's a ton of seaweed. It's all wrapping around your feet when you're in there, like I said, it's horrible," said Waters.Although it's unpleasant for visitors, it's important to the food chain."Some people don't want to be bothered by the kelp when they go to the beach. They don't like the smell, and the stuff that it brings along like the larvae, but it is a natural occurrence," said Captain Shook. "It's a really fragile ecosystem that we need to respect." 2275

It helps erase the pain from her past.“It feels really good, but it hurts really bad,” she said.Tattoo cover-up sessions like these are organized and paid for by Atlanta Redemption Ink, a nonprofit started by Jessica Lamb.“We work with sex trafficking survivors, former gang members, former self harmers and individuals that are in recovery that have marks from addiction,” Lamb said.Since 2017, Atlanta Redemption Ink has helped hundreds of people cover up marks from their past.Tattoo artists like Crystal Boyd of Pur Ink Tattoos in Alpharetta, Georgia, open their doors and donate their time and talent to become part of this healing process.“It definitely weighs on me,” Boyd said of the tattoo cover-up experiences. “A lot of them do open up and talk to me while I’m tattooing them and it’s hard not to cry.”Many of these recipients say fresh ink gives them a fresh start at life.“I feel like a brand new person not branded with somebody’s name on me,” said the tattoo coverup recipient.With her body once branded with her pimp’s name tattooed across her chest and “Cash Only” written on wrists, this sex trafficking survivor is now confident that these cover-ups will help open up a better life.“That’s me and my son” she said, while pointing out a recent cover-up. “And I got like the universe because he’s like my world; my universe.”She says before Atlanta Redemption Ink, she thought there were only two ways to get out of the sex trafficking industry: jail or deathShe says these new tattoos have given her a new life with a new goal.“I’m going to help girl like me somehow,” she said. “I don’t know how but one day I will.”To donate click here. 1911
