SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was stabbed six times in the back Friday in a carport in an alley in Pacific Beach, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old.The 30-year-old victim met two male suspects on the trolley in Old Town and about 3:30 p.m. the trio went, for unknown reasons, to the south alley in the 1100 block of Thomas Avenue, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.Related: Ex-Marine pleads guilty to killing Navy veteranThe victim and one of the suspects were in a carport while the other suspect stood in the alley, Heims said."A short time later the suspect runs out of the carport and meets the other suspect and they run away southbound in the alley," Heims said.Related: Teen inspired by jihadist videos kills boy"The victim was stabbed six times in the back."The wounded man was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Heims said.Police soon after responded to a fight at the intersection of Thomas Avenue and Mission Boulevard and determined that one of those suspected of involvement in the fight was the suspect in the stabbing.The suspect, identified as Anthony Valenzuela, was arrested for allegedly stabbing the 30-year-old man in the carport, Heims said. 1226
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspect was arrested Monday morning after climbing onto the roof of a La Jolla home, where he remained for just over an hour before surrendering to SDPD officers.Dispatchers received a call around 4:45 a.m. from a woman who reported hearing a person on the roof of her home in the 1500 block of Coast Walk, off Torrey Pines Road just east of Prospect Place, San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez said.Officers responded to the home and the woman pointed them to where she had seen the suspect, Martinez said.Police entered the home to make sure the suspect hadn't made it inside, then they spotted him on the roof and ordered him to surrender, the officer said.The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody around 6:10 a.m., Martinez said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A motorist was killed in a fiery solo vehicle crash off Interstate 5 in the Barrio Logan area, authorities said Monday.The crash was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday on southbound I- 5 near Cesar E. Chavez Parkway, California Highway Patrol Officer Tommy Strickland said.Investigators determined a pickup truck hit the center divide, then went down an embankment before ending up on a nearby street and catching fire, Strickland said.The truck's driver was pronounced dead at the scene, but no details about the victim were immediately available.The crash shut down the right two lanes near Cesar Chavez Parkway until about 11:45 p.m. Sunday. 675
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman who had more than three times the legal blood-alcohol limit when she crashed her SUV head-on into another vehicle while driving her three young daughters through Rancho Bernardo pleaded guilty Friday to felony child abuse and drunk driving charges. Mayra Alejandra Troncoso, 30, had a .29 percent blood-alcohol content when she drove on the wrong side of Camino del Norte on Nov. 12, 2018. Her SUV crashed head-on into an oncoming 2011 Jeep Liberty, causing severe injuries -- including a skull fracture and a brain bleed -- to her 9-month-old daughter, who was riding unrestrained. The defendant's 2-year-old daughter suffered facial injuries and her 8-year-old child broke a bone. The 57-year-old driver of the other car suffered broken bones, authorities said. RELATED: Mother and children injured in wrong way DUI crash in Rancho BernardoTroncoso was arrested the day after the collision at Palomar Medical Center. Prosecutors say that at the time of the crash, she was on probation and driving on a suspended license due to a 2017 North County DUI, in which she also crashed with at least one of her children in the vehicle. Troncoso is slated to be sentenced on Sept. 23. 1211
