Across the country, more states are legalizing marijuana.Now, more people are opening up about getting high and getting behind the wheel.“I feel more focused than when I’m sober,” Caleb Occelin said of driving while under the influence of marijuana. “It eases my mind. It makes me focus on everything.”Others, however, say they know better than to mix cars and cannabis. “Do not smoke weed and drive,” said marijuana smoker Sam Lee. “We all know we can barely think straight instead of drive.”Now, a team of medical professionals is studying the dangers of smoking and driving.“There’s been increasing concern about the potential of public health impacts of people using cannabis while they drive or shortly after,” said Dr. Michael Kosnett of the University of Colorado Denver.Kosnett is teaming up with Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Safety on a study about the effects of cannabis while operating a motor vehicle.This study tests three focus groups: daily smokers, occasional smokers and non-smokers as they go through tests measuring reaction times, hand-eye coordination and short-term memory.More than a year into the study, the team has hit an unexpected road block: they can’t seem to find occasional smokers.“As for people who just used it occasionally, like on a weekly basis, that was probably less than one-fourth of the people,” Kosnett said.This study is still in process. Kosnett has not yet released the findings.Denver Police Sgt. Alan Ma, however, doesn’t need to know the results. He says he knows from working his nightly beat that driving high is dangerous.“Their perception and reaction times are delayed,” Ma said about people who drive while high on marijuana. Actress Allison Mack has pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and racketeering relating to her alleged role in a sex trafficking case.John Marzulli, Public Information Officer for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York confirmed Mack's plea, which was entered Monday.As part of her guilty plea, Mack admitted to state law extortion and forced labor.Attorneys for Mack did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Mack was arrested in April 2018 and charged for her alleged involvement with an organization called Nxivm (pronounced NEX-ium), a group that claimed to be a self-help program but was, in reality, a pyramid scheme in which some recruits were exploited "both sexually and for their labor, to the defendants' benefit," according to U.S. attorney Richard P. Donoghue.Mack is accused of recruiting women to join what she told them was a female mentorship group when, in fact, it was an organization created and led by Nxivm's founder, Keith Raniere, also known within the group as Vanguard.Last year, Mack, best known for her role as Clark Kent's clever confidant Chloe on CW's "Smallville," was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy, according to a statement released by the Justice Department. She pleaded not guilty at the time.Officials said Mack, 36, was the co-creator of a program within Nxivm, which was targeted toward actors.Mack's charges stemmed from what officials said were activities that took place as part of a secret society within Nxivm called "DOS," in which women recruited and groomed others under false pretenses to be sexual partners for Raniere, according to an indictment.Several women, whose identities were withheld in court papers, claim they were blackmailed into complying and told DOS had compromising information about them.Raniere was the sole male in DOS and the leader. He has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and forced labor charges.Until women recruited others, they were called "slaves." Those who successfully recruited were called "masters."The indictment released last year claimed many so-called slaves were branded on their pelvic areas using a cauterizing pen with a symbol which, unbeknownst to them, incorporated Raniere's initials.Mack was released on a million bond days after her arrest last year.Marzulli and Mack's attorneys did not respond to CNN's questions regarding whether Mack's plea was entered as part of a deal with prosecutors.Mack faces a maximum of 40 years in prison -- 20 years on each count. After arriving at their Airbnb in Cork, Ireland, a family from New Zealand made an unsettling discovery: a hidden camera, livestreaming from the living room.Nealie and Andrew Barker, from Auckland, were in the midst of a 14-month trip around Europe when they arrived at the Airbnb property with their four children and niece.Once the family had unpacked, Andrew Barker, who works in IT security, scanned the house's Wi-Fi network.The scan unearthed a camera, and subsequently a live feed. From the angle of the video, the family tracked down the camera, concealed in what appeared to be a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide detector."It was such a shock. It was just a really horrible feeling," Nealie Barker told CNN.She called Airbnb to report the camera. "They had no advice for us over the phone," she said. "The girl just said that if you cancel within 14 days, you won't get your money back."Next, Andrew Barker called the owner of the property. When confronted with the family's discovery, Nealie Barker said, the host hung up. Later, he called back, insisting the camera in the living room was the only one in the house."We didn't feel relieved by that," she said, adding that the host refused to confirm whether he was recording the livestream, or capturing audio.The family relocated to a nearby hotel and called Airbnb the following day. "They still didn't seem to grasp the seriousness of the issue. They were treating it like a canceled booking," Nealie Barker said. An American couple visiting the Dominican Republic was found dead in their hotel room after they missed their scheduled check out, a police spokesman said.Edward Nathaniel Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Ann Day, 49, missed their scheduled check out time at the Bahia Principe Hotel in La Romana.Hotel staff members went into their room and found the couple unresponsive Thursday, said spokesman Frank Felix Duran Mejia of the Dominican Republic National Police. There were no signs of violence in the room.Relatives told CNN affiliate WBAL that Holmes and Day were engaged. They were from Prince George's County, Maryland, and were supposed to fly back home the day they were found, the station reported.Hotel staff contacted local authorities.
