JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) - In Jamul, community members are banding together to help a family-owned farm decimated by the Valley Fire.Cheryl Skidmore, the owner of Hidden Haven Ranch, was on the phone with workers on site."Very, very smoky fire. Hit the ridge and then came down very fast," said Skidmore. Some animals were evacuated, but the damage was heavy at the 16-year-old farm known for sustainable farming. All 125 chickens were killed. Most of the crops were destroyed: half of the orchards, from apples to apricots, and all of the industrial hemp fields. The flames also burned a trailer and much of the farm equipment."Everything is just devastated. We have to start over," said Skidmore.Skidmore says she tried to get wildfire insurance but was denied, partly because she’s in a fire-prone area. The total loss was about 0,000. Shutting down the farm became very possible."It's overwhelming," said Skidmore. The word 'overwhelming' could also be used to describe the outpouring of support."The community has been donating hens. Hopefully, we will be doing egg production next month," said Skidmore. The farm asked for help and the community responded with dozens of volunteers at three cleanup efforts, including one on this day. Volunteers have done everything, from raking ash and trimming trees, to moving dirt and cleaning horse stalls. Jordyn Brewer is one of those volunteers."When I saw the pictures of the devastation, it made me upset. If I were in that situation, I would want people to help me," said Skidmore.Skidmore says that help will mean the difference between shutting down and keeping the farm going."No way I could have done this myself ... Just to see people so willing to help others, just makes me feel so good," said Skidmore.A lot of cleanup remains at the 52-acre farm. Skidmore says she’s planning at least seven more cleanups.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help with the with the rebuild. 1938

Jared Kushner told a software developer who worked at his newspaper, the New York Observer, to delete several "critical" stories in 2012, according to Austin Smith, the developer who said he "complied."Smith now has regrets about his involvement.Kushner was seeking to erase Observer stories that were "critical of his commercial real estate colleagues," Smith said in a Hacker News message board post.Back then, Kushner was the publisher of the Observer. Now he is a senior adviser to President Donald Trump.Smith said he was inspired to speak out by a recent Hacker News discussion about unethical behavior, plus the president's usage of extreme "enemy of the people" rhetoric to attack journalists."I didn't know any better then, but I do now," Smith said in a series of tweets on Monday. He said he is sorry for deleting stories by Observer staff members.BuzzFeed highlighted the deletions on Monday. A "handful of articles" were affected. The White House press office did not respond to requests for comment.According to emails seen by BuzzFeed's Steven Perlberg, Kushner went around the paper's editors "to mandate the removal of a handful of articles from the website."BuzzFeed noted that "the secret removal of stories due to outside pressure is widely regarded as an unethical practice in journalism."The editor at the time, Elizabeth Spiers, said on Twitter that she found out about this action "a few months ago." Her reaction: "I don't have enough choice expletives describe my feelings about that."How could Kushner pull this off without the newsroom knowing?"When you publish some 50 odd stories a week, you don't notice two or three missing here and there weeks after fact," Spiers told CNNMoney."We also had a couple of site redesigns and site search was abysmal," she added. "So if you didn't immediately find something in search there were more likely (at the time) explanations."Spiers has been critical of Kushner and other Trump White House officials.Kushner resigned from the Observer when he joined the Trump administration in January 2017. He transferred the paper into a family trust. 2116

Jimmy Kimmel just couldn't resist.A week after his online war of words with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Kimmel had the opportunity to comment on Monday's surprising courtroom revelation that Hannity was a client of President Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen."This morning, Michael Cohen was forced to reveal the name of a mystery third client. He tried everything to keep it secret, but the judge ordered him to reveal the name of client number three. And shockingly, that client turned out to be my pal Sean Hannity," Kimmel said in the opening of his ABC late night show. "Isn't that interesting?"Related: Sean Hannity invites Jimmy Kimmel on his show, says it's time to 'move on'Kimmel then read from Hannity's statement about Cohen, which said that the Fox host never retained Cohen "in the traditional sense," received an invoice from him or paid him legal fees. Hannity said he "occasionally had brief discussions about legal questions" with Cohen."That sounds normal. He has a lawyer he doesn't pay," Kimmel joked. "By the way, I'm thinking of hiring Michael Cohen as my lawyer. He only has three clients and apparently he works for free. He doesn't take money from anyone."According to Hannity, he never dealt with Cohen on matters between him and a "third-party.""I don't know what kind of legal advice doesn't involve a third party?" Kimmel asked. "Unless maybe Sean Hannity was thinking of suing himself?"Related: Sean Hannity responds after being named as Michael Cohen's mystery clientOver on CBS's "Late Show," Stephen Colbert was downright jovial about the news. After Colbert revealed the news to the audience, the camera cut to him lounging in an armchair, rubbing his own nipples and drinking a glass of red wine."Jon Stewart, after the show I'm going to come over and we're just going to spoon," Colbert said, referring to his old "Daily Show" boss. "This is crazy!"On "The Daily Show," host Trevor Noah said that knowing Hannity has direct ties to Cohen makes it "fun to look back" at past clips from Hannity's show."You know, now that we know he was working with Cohen, that looks less like a news show and more like a guy already stressed giving himself a pep talk," Noah said.The-CNN-Wire 2222
