WASHINGTON, June 10 (Xinhua) -- China's National People's Congress (NPC) and the U.S. House of Representatives have wrapped up their 10th meeting under a parliamentary exchange mechanism in Washington after having an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties, inter-parliamentary exchanges, global financial crisis, climate change and international and regional issues of mutual concern.     The meeting, held here on Tuesday, was co-chaired by Chairman Li Zhaoxing of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee and Representative Joseph Crowley, chairman of the counterpart exchange mechanism in the House.     During the meeting, the Chinese side said that with growing common interests and greater opportunities of cooperation, China and the U.S. should further increase mutual trust and cooperation from strategic and long-term perspectives, respect and take care of each other's core interests, handle differences and sensitive issues with prudence, and ensure a healthy, stable growth of bilateral relationship.     The U.S. side reaffirmed the importance it has attached to the U.S.-China relationship and said that the House of Representatives will work to help the two countries tackle issues such as global financial crisis, climate change and energy safety through further exchanges and dialogues with NPC.     Both delegations agreed that the existing parliamentary exchange mechanism has become the most direct and effective platform for communications between the two sides and has played a positive role in deepening mutual understanding, building consensus and promoting cooperation.     The two sides also discussed the necessity for the two countries to strengthen coordination in macro economic and financial policies and how to cooperate in dealing with the climate change issue.     The Chinese side extended an invitation to the U.S. side on a visit to China in fall this year for the 11th meeting under the parliamentary exchange mechanism.

ZAGREB, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao's just concluded three-nation tour is "very successful" in enhancing friendship, boosting cooperation and promoting common development with relevant countries, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Saturday.     During the tour from June 14 to June 20, President Hu attended the ninth annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the first BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) summit in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and paid state visits to Russia, Slovakia and Croatia.     Hu's tour took place amid the complicated and changing international situation, while the global financial crisis continues to spread, regional security faces new challenges, and various countries share stronger will to deepen cooperation and promote development, Yang said.     The tour was a significant diplomatic move taken by China to develop relations with neighboring countries, major developing countries as well as Central and Eastern European countries, said Yang.     He said the tour has made successful achievements in four major areas. HANOI, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the 9th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Asia-Europe Meeting here on Monday and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.     Yang said with deepening globalization, the destinies of Asia and Europe have been tied together. Countries must intensify cooperation, deepen mutual trust and build a new and closer Asia-Europe partnership.     To build such a partnership, Yang said countries should enhance mutual understanding through dialogue on an equal footing. Countries should promote development through intensified cooperation. Countries should advocate mutual tolerance through expanded exchanges. Countries should strengthen its institution building to ensure the vitality.     Yang made several suggestions to cope with the ongoing financial and economic crisis and other global challenges.     First, Yang said countries should strengthen confidence and strive for economic recovery and growth. Countries should firmly oppose all forms of protectionism and take concrete steps to help develop countries maintain financial stability and work together to overcome the international financial crisis.     Second, countries should take active measures to counter the threat of A/H1N1 flu and other infectious diseases and minimize the impact of the flu on global trade and economic activities, said Yang.     Third, countries should think for the future, remain committed to the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities" and step up cooperation in tackling climate change.     Fourth, countries should increase input and foster and follow anew energy security concept that calls for win-win cooperation, diverse forms of development and common security through coordinated supply, said Yang.     Fifth, countries should promote peaceful and negotiated settlement of hotspot issues and regional disputes on the basis of mutual respect, mutual trust and cooperation. The international community should fully respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries concerned, provide active and constructive help, and avoid willfully applying pressure or sanctions.     Yang said to deal with the international financial crisis, China has adjusted its macro-economic policies and implemented positive fiscal policy and loosened its monetary policy in an appropriate manner.     China has launched a package of measures to expand domestic consumption and stabilize export market and these measures have started to take effect.     As a responsible member of the international community, China will continue to work together with other ASEM members to strengthen coordination in the macro-economic policy, advance the reform of international financial system and actively safeguard the stability of the multi-lateral trade system.     The 9th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) opened here on Monday with the participation of foreign ministers and delegates from 45 ASEM members in the two-day meeting.     Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung delivered the opening speech of the meeting.

ZHENGZHOU, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has urged economic restructuring to tap the growth potential as the nation copes with the impact of the global downturn.     Li made the call during a four-day tour ending Saturday in central China's Henan Province.     He said that with the concerted efforts nationwide, China's economy was turning for the better.
