Professional wrestler Leati Joseph Anoa?i, better known by his stage name Roman Reigns, has announced that he is stepping away from the ring due to an ongoing fight against leukemia.Reigns, a former football player who has since become one of World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) most popular personalities, announced Monday that he had been living with cancer for 11 years and that it had returned. He said he would relinquish his claim to the WWE's Universal Championship as he focuses on battling leukemia."When I was 22 years old, I was diagnosed with this. And very quickly I was able to put it in remission. But I'm not going to lie, that was the hardest time in my life. I didn't have a job, I didn't have any money, I didn't have a home and I had a baby on the way," Reigns said in an emotional speech Monday in Rhode Island to kick off WWE's Monday Night Raw program. He thanked the WWE for giving him a chance after his football career had ended."I want to make one thing clear — by no means is this a retirement speech," Reigns said. "I will beat this and I will be back, so you will see me very very soon."The crowd cheered and chanted "Roman, Roman" as he placed his Universal Title belt on the floor and left the ring. Some of the biggest names in wrestling offered their support."You have given us your everything including a courageously vulnerable moment. We, your WWE family, give you all of our love and support," John Cena tweeted."Stunned. I liked and respected him from the moment I met him. Sending my very best wishes and prayers for you, Joe," Mick Foley tweeted.WWE also tweeted video of fellow wrestlers offering hugs and words of encouragement for Reigns after his speech. 1711
Recorded by another driver Wednesday afternoon, a video shows two vehicles - a car and a minivan - heading down Kanner Highway in Stuart, Florida. We don't see what leads up to it, but the car appears to be driving slowly in front of the minivan - even jumping in front of the van when the driver tries to change lanes. The two cars get to the intersection of US 1 and Kanner.Almost immediately, three men get out and brawl in the middle of the busy road."Bystanders were involved trying to break them up, and the potential of those bystanders also getting hurt during this is increased," says Jeff Kittredge with the Stuart Police Department.Kittredge says the men in the car, Eric Gerstmann and Sean Gerstmann of Port Saint Lucie, drove away at the end the fight but were arrested just down the road."Not only are you putting yourself in danger, but you're also putting other motorists in danger with aggressive driving," he says. For many folks, it shows we still have a long way to go."A lot of people are fueled off of hate and anger, and not love and passion," says resident Victor Diodato."It just shows how little respect we have for each other," says resident Joseph Neuroth. " I hope one day we can stop and think instead of act on impulse. "You never know whose day you're ruining."Eric and Sean Gerstmann are charged with disorderly conduct. Eric Gerstmann was also charged with resisting arrest without violence. Investigators say they are still looking for the other driver for questioning as the investigation continues. If you have any info, contact Stuart Police. 1600
President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday that he plans on banning popular social media application TikTok in the US.According to White House pool reports, Trump said, “I have that authority. I can do it with an executive order or that.”“As far as TikTok is concerned we’re banning them from the United States,” Trump told the reporters. Trump added that he planned to take action against the popular video-sharing app as soon as Saturday.Earlier on Friday, Bloomberg reported that Trump was planning on forcing TikTok’s parent company ByteDance to sell the company. The company is based in China, a country Trump has ramped up tensions with amid the coronavirus pandemic. But Trump indicated to reporters on Friday that he is not in favor of allowing a sale of the company to an American-based company. The popular social media application has gained popularity among younger Americans in recent months. The application allows users to share short video clips, often accompanied with music. Users of the application orchestrated a campaign to Trump's first rally during the coronavirus pandemic in June in Tulsa to reserve tickets and not show up, which prompted lower-than-expected attendance numbers. The Trump administration has complained that the application takes data and is used by the Chinese government. "All the things that you care that you want to make sure the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t have, we have a responsibility to make sure that the systems that you’re using don’t give them access to that," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said last week. 1603
