SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A mistrial has been declared in the trail of the man accused in the disappearance and murder of his stepson.Tieray Jones was charged with the murder of 2-year-old Jahi Turner. Jahi was last seen at a park near Balboa Park in April of 2002.Jones was facing several charges including 2nd degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Two jurors found Jones guilty of murder while 10 did not while 10 jurors found Jones guilty of involuntary manslaughter and two did not.RELATED: Stepfather facing trial in Jahi Turner murder?During the trial Friday, the judge asked if jurors would be able to reach a verdict if given more time to deliberate. They responded by saying no. The District Attorney will now decide whether or not to retry Jones. Jones reported the boy missing, telling police Jahi wandered off. Jahi was in Jones’ care while the 2-year-old’s mother was on deployment.A countywide search followed with thousands of people looking for the young boy in the park and Golden Hill neighborhood.People also searched the Miramar Landfill, but Jahi was never found. Jones was arrested in North Carolina and charged in the death in April of 2016.Jones faces 25 years to life in prison.  1232

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new study by Zillow shows that homebuyers with lower credit scored pay more for the same homes than buyers with excellent credit scores.According to Zillow, borrowers with excellent credit scores could get a mortgage with a 4.5 percent annual percentage rate.Borrowers with a fair credit score could get a 5.1 percent rate. Over the lifetime of a 30-year mortgage, that means a buyer with a fair credit score may end up paying an additional ,000 over the lifetime of the loan.In San Diego, where the median home value in March of 2018 was 5,300, Zillow estimates that homebuyers with fair credit will pay ,000 for the same home.The difference is only amplified in more expensive markets, Zillow says. In addition, the penalty for lower credit scores tends to be higher."When you buy a home, your financial history determines your financial future," said Zillow senior economist Aaron Terrazas. "Homebuyers with weaker credit end up paying substantially higher costs over the lifetime of a home loan. Of course, homeowners do have the option to refinance their loan if their credit improves, but as mortgage rates rise this may be a less attractive option."Zillow says that even if homeowners don’t pay the full 30-year term on a loan, the annual cost of a lower credit score can still add up to 0 a year. 1346

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Carlos family is hoping surveillance video will help track down the man recorded making himself comfortable in their home.Along Wallsey Drive, the Meduna family got a heart-sinking scare the day before Halloween.Around 8:30 a.m, Megan Meduna and her husband both got a notification that their garage door was open.  Inside the home, a camera was recording an intruder. Meduna says the man had pried open a window screen in the front and forced open a window.  A sound heard in the video is the burglar opening the door to the garage, before he's seen shutting the window he just climbed through. As he puts on his gloves, he walks up to the camera and flips it over."It's just creepy, creepy to see someone in my house sneaking around," said Meduna.By the time police arrived, the man was gone. He got away with only a little bit of cash, but the impact was felt across a neighborhood.  Surveillance video showed him casing the area.  Minutes before the break-in, a neighbor reported seeing the man knocking at her door, then pretending to need directions when she answered the door.  At another home, a ripped screen was found near a side window and an out-of-place brick was discovered outside another window.Neighbors are now wondering if the same man could be linked to other burglaries. A few weeks ago and blocks away, 10News reported on a break-in with a similar MO that left a newlywed couple missing wedding gifts and family heirlooms.  A month ago, there was a another burglary at Meduna's home, in which electronics and jewelry were taken."Feel violated and angry. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man reportedly attacked by four teenagers near Petco Park died Monday morning, family members tell 10News. 56-year-old Edward Leon Starland died several weeks after being attacked and beaten on November 18 around 2 p.m. Several teenagers, including 19-year-old Dominick Wells and three juvenile females ages 14, 15 and 17 were all taken into custody on felony battery charges. RELATED: Arrests made in attack near Petco Park that left man with serious injuriesStarland was found unresponsive after witnesses say he was involved with an argument with the group before being thrown to the ground and attacked.
