President Donald Trump does not like the news that General Motors would close several plants and cut more than 10,000 jobs. Speaking to reporters on the White House lawn on Monday afternoon, Trump said he spoke with CEO Mary Barra and told her he wasn't happy with the decision."I told her I'm not happy about it," Trump told reporters."The United States saved General Motors and for her to take that company out of Ohio is not good," he continued. "I think she's going to put something back in soon."On Monday, GM announced it would close four US-based plants, including two in metro Detroit; the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant and the Warren Transmission Operations plant.According to a spokesperson for GM, the plants will be unallocated which means they will no longer produce vehicles in those plants in 2019. According to the company, the future of the plants will be part of contract talks with the UAW next year.“The actions we are taking today continue our transformation to be highly agile, resilient and profitable, while giving us the flexibility to invest in the future,” Barra said in a release. “We recognize the need to stay in front of changing market conditions and customer preferences to position our company for long-term success.”According to the release, GM will lay off 14,700 factory and white-collar workers. Of those, 8,100 will be white-collar workers that will either take buyouts or be laid off.The company said that the moves will help continue its focus on crossovers, SUVs and trucks. With the move, GM plans to cut 25 percent of the executive staff and 15 percent of the salaried and salaried contract staff. The transition also includes ceasing production of six vehicles; the Chevrolet Cruze, Volt and Impala, the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS sedan and Cadillac CT6 sedan. According to the company, the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant produces the Volt, Impala, LaCrosse and CT6.Trump said Barra told him the Cruze isn't selling well."Hopefully she’s going to come back and put something, but I told her I’m not happy about it," he added.Barra also was meeting with White House Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow on Monday, a White House official confirms. The meeting has apparently been on the books for weeks and it's just a coincidence that the meeting and the announcement happened on the same day. 2369

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - A North County gun store, Poway Weapons and Gear Range, is part of a group suing the state of California over a law which took effect earlier this year. The law makes it illegal to sell rifles and shotguns to anyone younger than 21. There are exceptions for military, law enforcement, and people with hunting licenses. It was already illegal for those under 21 to buy handguns.Store Director of Sales Danielle Rudolph tells 10News the lawsuit is about sticking up for their customers."The constitution protects anybody that’s an adult in the United States. An adult is 18,” she says. The state legislator who wrote the law says he was inspired to act by the shooting in Parkland, Florida, in which a man is accused of killing 17 students and staff members at a school while using an assault rifle. A similar weapon was used by the gunman in the shooting at the Chabad of Poway synagogue, which killed one person and injured three others.Supporters of the law say it's a common sense regulation to help keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have them.Rudolph says California already has the strictest gun laws in the country and that more aren't needed. She also says the law prevents her store from offering the gun safety and training programs for teens and children that are an important factor in creating a culture of responsible gun ownerships. That's why they feel it is important to sign on to the lawsuit filed Monday.“We’re proud to be a part of it. Anything to protect our second amendment rights.” 1550

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, should end special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election interference, arguing that the ongoing probe is hurting the United States.Although the President has repeatedly criticized the investigation and Sessions' decision to recuse himself from overseeing it, Wednesday's tweet is notable for his direct suggestion that his attorney general squash the probe."This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!" the President tweeted. 769

President Donald Trump is expected to name veteran Washington, DC, lawyer Pat Cipollone as the next White House counsel, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.The pick could be announced as soon as the coming week, the sources said. The White House is waiting for his clearance information to be completed before announcing the choice, one of the sources said.Cipollone met with White House officials earlier this week to discuss the counsel's job, a different source familiar with the situation told CNN.But sources caution nothing is final until an announcement is made.Asked Saturday if Cipollone is going to be the next White House Counsel, Trump told reporters, "I haven't named the new White House counsel. But over a short period of time, I will." 769

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Some neighbors in Poway are demanding answers after they say a huge wall showed up on a hillside over their homes, seemingly overnight and without notice."It definitely kills our view," said Aaron Jewell, who has lived in the neighborhood for nearly 40 years. "It's an eyesore.""It looks a prison!" added Jeff Tarzia, another neighbor. The pre-fabricated "tilt-up" walls were erected last week, part of a 531,000 square-foot warehouse and distribution center slated to open next year, according to interviews with the city and the developer. The facility, named Vantage Point, will be the latest addition to the Poway Business Park along Scripps Poway Parkway. The business park already features more than 500 businesses and 18,000 employees. After the wall appeared last week, several neighbors complained on the social media app NextDoor that they had no idea the project was coming.Video from the Poway City Council shows the item was discussed November 7 for 14 minutes. Only one public speaker commented on the proposal: a commercial real estate broker who supported the project.According to the agenda documents, the city notified property owners within 500 feet of the upcoming council meeting, but aerial photographs show the only buildings nearby are in the business park. The concerned neighbors live in homes in a canyon several thousand feet north of the project, separated by open space. The city also filed a notice in the local newspaper about the upcoming hearing, said Poway Community Outreach Coordinator Rene Carmichael.City staff noted the land had been part of the Poway Business Park development plan since 1985. It was graded in the early 2000s but otherwise sat vacant because the owners of the property had trouble generating interest. After the city agreed to change the zoning classification in November to allow for a distribution and warehouse facility, Ryan Companies acquired the property in January. The Minneapolis-based commercial real estate company broke ground on the project in April, said company spokeswoman Kathy Jalivay. The company has not yet found a tenant to fill the building, which is slated to open in June 2020.The developer will add trees along the north side of the building to held screen it from view, Carmichael said. 2298
