Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, received his initial dose of a coronavirus vaccine Tuesday morning. Fauci was among a group of federal government health officials and health care workers who were vaccinated. A clinical trial of the Moderna vaccine indicated it is 94% effective against the coronavirus. Those who are administered Pfizer's vaccine are asked to return 21 days later for a booster.The vaccine was one of two authorized by the FDA for emergency use. Earlier this month, Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine received an emergency use authorization from the FDA. The vaccine will be the first of two shots. Those vaccinated with Moderna's coronavirus vaccine will be asked to get a booster 28 days later.Fauci has expressed optimism that getting the US to herd immunity through a coronavirus vaccine will begin allowing Americans to return to normal. "And that means it's going to impede our own courage to reach out to people again."  A recent study out of the University of Kansas found that it takes about 50 hours of socializing to go from an acquaintance to a casual friend. If you want to become close friends, the study found it takes 200 hours of socialization. Most of us don’t have that kind of time, so there are apps that can help. For example, there’s a newer app called Girl Crew. It’s similar to dating apps. You simply create a profile, begin a chat and then if you like the person, you can set up a time and place to meet. Another app is Skout. You should, because you might be donating your identity to thieves.“We see credit cards; we see passports, birth certificates, social security cards, tax information,” says Travis Carlson with Goodwill of Denver.Sensitive documents, often with personal information, are accidentally left in donations delivered to places like Goodwill.“We see things tucked inside bed sheets, inside books, little boxes,” says Carlson. “Often times, we think people think they just forgot about it; they didn't know it was inside that item. Or perhaps they’re donating something on behalf of a family member who passed away. We see that a lot, unfortunately.”Different Goodwill stores have different policies, but the Goodwill of Denver in Colorado has a loss prevention box at their locations.“We have all kinds of credit cards, driver’s licenses, certificates, checks, things like that,” says Carlson.But experts say you shouldn't rely on the donation site to safely dispose of personal information.
