Now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) wants to do something similar with the COVID-19 vaccine.The CDC suggested that people receive a sticker that says, “I got my COVID-19 vaccine.”Other groups are also starting similar initiatives.Adam Wiatrowski founded Courage Thru COVID, a group that's trying to raise awareness not only about coronavirus, but also the vaccine.The group created wristbands to give out to folks who have gotten the shot. Their goal is to create positivity.“We’re all in this together, and our goal with the Courage Thru COVID wristband is to give people an opportunity to show their unity and show their support for each other,” said Wiatrowski.The wristbands are a bright, neon green with the words “Courage Thru COVID” printed on them. Right now, only hospitals in Minnesota are getting them, but Wiatrowski hopes to expand the effort across the country.There are questions over whether this would really encourage people to get vaccinated. Psychology experts say think so, because there’s power in numbers. If we see a lot of people sporting these stickers, we're likely to be motivated enough to get the vaccine.The stickers can also create a sense of belonging.“That sense of belonging does cause us to feel, again, more motivated to belong to that group, to do what those other people around us are doing. But also, to stay true to the norms of that group by trying to convince others that those are the correct actions to take and norms to adopt,” said Robert Cialdini, psychology and marketing professor at Arizona State University.Cialdini is confident the stickers will encourage people to get vaccinated, but he is unsure at this point of how big of a difference they'll make.He adds another thing that could motivate people is seeing celebrities endorse the vaccine. As Labor Day comes to a close, the city could be buried in several inches of snow.Despite the major heat wave sweeping the Rocky Mountains, a cold front is set to sweep across parts of Rockies, bringing freezing cold and even some snow.“A significant change in the weather will occur late Monday into Tuesday,” the National Weather Service said. “Temperatures will plummet behind a strong cold front with rain and snow forming. Snow levels will drop sharply and accumulating snow is likely across the mountains and foothills."The National Weather Service also warned the area for possible power outages due to the snow falling on live vegetation.The weather is just as extreme in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The area is under a red flag warning for possible fires as temperatures will reach the 90s this weekend. THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KGTV) -- Five people were arrested Sunday in Ventura County after attempting to steal several Apple products from the store inside The Oaks Mall. Around 3:17 p.m. three of the suspects entered the store, all wearing hooded sweatshirts with the hoods up, police said. Once inside the group proceeded to steal Apple iPhones and laptops totaling ,000.00. All three suspects ran out of the store, crashing into and knocking down a female customer. Police said other Apple customers were able to tackle two of the suspects - identified as Donte Sims and Timothy Terry, both of Antioch, California - and keep them down in time for law enforcement arrived. Sims and Terry were arrested on criminal conspiracy and burglary charges. The third suspect got away but was seen getting into a waiting vehicle. Around 3:36 p.m. Sunday, a Ventura County Sheriff patrol deputy caught a vehicle with three people driving over the speed limit on State Route 118 in Simi Valley. Sacramento resident Mona Benoit was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Her passengers, Tynisha Noel of Fresno and Edward Benton of Antioch were arrested after a search of the vehicle revealed that the Apple merchandise stolen from the Thousand Oaks stores was in the vehicle - along with merchandise reported stolen after a burglary in Los Angeles. Thousand Oaks Police Department Detectives identified the group as an organized retail theft crew and are investigating.  1571
