COPENHAGEN, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Thursday that the Copenhagen climate talks have reached the decisive moment and all parties should focus on consensus in a future-oriented manner and seek common grounds while shelving differences so as to bring hope to the world people.     Wen made the remarks when he met British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on the sidelines of the UN-led talks being held here.     Wen said many developed countries have tabled quantified emission reduction targets while some developing countries have also set up voluntary goals in curbing emissions, which represents new progress in international cooperation in tackling climate change. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (R) shakes hands with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in Copenhagen, Denmark, Dec. 17, 2009. The key to fighting climate change is to follow the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities," Wen said. Countries should deliver their commitments in earnest and enhance mutual trust instead of harboring mistrust or even confronting with each other, he added.     China is always true in word and resolute in deed, Wen said, adding that the Chinese side will overcome difficulties to realize the goal of curbing greenhouse gas emissions. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (R) shakes hands with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Copenhagen, Denmark, Dec. 17, 2009.Wen also said China's work in this regard is open and transparent and is subject to the supervision of domestic laws and media, and China is willing to conduct international exchanges, dialogues and cooperation in information disclosure.     Brown, Merkel and Hatoyama spoke highly of China's efforts in dealing with climate change and introduced their own countries' positions during the climate talks.     They also expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with China to strive for achieving positive results at the summit.     Wen also attended a banquet hosted by Danish Queen Margrethe II for world leaders at the summit. BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Profits of China's state-owned enterprises (SOEs) administered by the central government more than doubled in October from a year ago after months of declines, a senior official said here on Friday.     The 132 central SOEs reaped a profit of 79.5 billion yuan (11.64 billion U.S. dollars) in October, up 151 percent year on year, said Huang Shuhe, deputy director of the State-owed Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) at the 2009 Annual CEO Forum.     In October, revenues surged by 22 percent from a year ago to nearly 1.16 trillion yuan, Huang said.     Their profits during Jan-Oct was 633.8 billion yuan, while revenues amounted to 9.83 trillion yuan during the same period.     Huang also noted 24 central SOEs had entered the rank of Fortune 500 companies.     "China's companies still face difficulties and great challenges due to roaring raw material prices, huge environmental pressure and rampant protectionism triggered by the financial crisis," he said.     He said the companies should further enhance independent innovation, improve corporate governance and accelerate the pace of "go global" to compete with foreign brands.

BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi pledged Sunday China will continue to cooperate with other countries to address global challenges in the coming new year.     "China will continue to work with the rest of the international community to tackle various global challenges with full confidence and jointly advance world peace and development," said Yang at a new year reception held by the Foreign Ministry for foreign diplomats and officials of international organizations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China holds a New Year reception for foreign envoys and guests in China, in Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 20, 2009.He said the year 2010 will be crucial for the recovery of the global economy, the reform of the international system and China's efforts to ensure stability and promote development.     "We will work to maintain steady and relatively fast economic growth, and at the same time speed up the transformation of the economic development pattern so that our effort on these two fronts will reinforce each other," Yang said.     He said China will remain committed to the path of peaceful development and the win-win strategy of opening-up, and pursue development that is peaceful, open and cooperative. Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo (2nd R) and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi (1st L) toast with a foreign guest during a New Year reception held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 20, 2009. Yang told reporters at the reception the Shanghai World Expo is one of the major tasks of China's diplomatic work in 2010.     He said he would like to take the reception as an opportunity to promote the expo to the international community and invite overseas people to visit China during the event next year.     In his speech, Nolana Ta Ama, dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Togo's ambassador to China, said as China plays an increasingly important role on the international stage, it will continue to devote itself to the world affairs in 2010.     Over 400 people, including China's State Councilor Dai Bingguo, attended the reception.
