The Walt Disney Company announced on Tuesday that Bob Iger is stepping down as the company's CEO, and handing over his position to Bob Chapek effective immediately. Iger been in leadership at Disney for 27 years, 15 years as CEO, and will remain with the company as executive chairman and will direct the Walt Disney's creative endeavors through the end of 2021. “With the successful launch of Disney’s direct-to-consumer businesses and the integration of Twenty-First Century Fox well underway, I believe this is the optimal time to transition to a new CEO,” Mr. Iger said. “I have the utmost confidence in Bob and look forward to working closely with him over the next 22 months as he assumes this new role and delves deeper into Disney’s multifaceted global businesses and operations, while I continue to focus on the Company’s creative endeavors.”Iger's career brought the launch of Disney's streaming service Disney+, the acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the opening of a Disney theme park in China. The U.S. Senate unanimously voted to pass the PACT Act on Tuesday, which will make animal cruelty a federal felony. The "Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act" was introduced by Congressmen Vern Buchanan and Ted Deutch. The House voted to pass the act on Oct. 23. “This is a milestone for pet owners and animal lovers across the country,” Buchanan said. “For the first time, a national law has been passed by Congress to protect animals from cruelty and abuse.”The act specifically bans crushing, burning, drowning, suffocating, impaling or otherwise subjecting animals to serious bodily harm. "This is commonsense, bipartisan legislation to bring some compassion to our animal laws," Deutch said. In 2010, Congress passed legislation making it illegal to create and distribute so-called "animal crush videos" that showed people brutally killing and torturing animals. The underlying acts themselves are still legal under federal law. The PACT Act aims to close those loopholes. “The torture of innocent animals is abhorrent and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” Buchanan said. “Protecting animals from cruelty is a top priority for me and I’m proud to work with Congressman Deutch on this important issue.”President Trump is expected to sign the act in the near future, according to a press release from Congressman Buchanan. 1370

Biden’s campaign has struggled to raise money to have the sort of advertising that Bloomberg and Sanders have. A candidate is required to win 1991 pledged delegates going into the convention. Failure to win a majority of delegates will result in hundreds of so-called “Super Delegates” to cast a ballot during a second round of voting. How likely of a scenario is a brokered convention?
