Google denied President Donald Trump's claim on Wednesday that the search engine promoted President Barack Obama's State of the Union addresses but not his own annual address in January.Trump tweeted a video Wednesday on Twitter that read: "For years, Google promoted President Obama's State of the Union on its homepage. When President Trump took office, Google stopped." It shows the site's homepage on the dates of presidential speeches from 2012 through 2018, highlighting the section of the page where a link would be posted to a YouTube livestream of the speeches. In the video, the links to all of Obama's State of the Union addresses are shown but there are no links to Trump's first address to Congress in February 2017 or his State of the Union address last January. Trump added the hashtag, "#StopTheBias." 824

I can understand that some of them may be in jeopardy, and you may want to retool an antiquated immigration system. It looks weird to have a lottery system. But chain migration? Grand jury recordings of the Breonna Taylor case released on Friday reveal initial interviews police conducted with Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker."I'm scared. I don't know what to say," Walker told investigators on the same day his girlfriend was shot and killed in their apartment during a drug raid by Louisville Metro Police.Grand jurors listened to a series of interviews police conducted with Walker.Walker said he and Taylor were watching a movie when the first knock on the door happened. As more knocks came, Walker told investigators the repeatedly yelled, 'Who is it?' with no response."She's yelling at the top of her lungs, and I am too at this point. No answer. No response. Nothing," Walker said. "I was scared to death."Knocking continued as they were getting dressed. Walker told investigators he grabbed his gun at that point."It's the middle of the night, [someone is] knocking on the door and not even saying who they are. What are you going to do if you're at home with your family, and somebody is knocking on your door, and you don't know who it is after you've asked?" Walker defended himself when investigators questioned him later about the gun. While walking to the door, Walker said he saw the door come off the hinges."I let just let off one shot. I still can't see who it is or anything," he recounted.Attorney General Daniel Cameron has said Walker's bullet hit Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly's thigh, but Walker's attorney has disputed the fact.Walker told investigators he and Taylor dropped to the ground when police began firing, and the gun fell from his hands. When the shooting stopped, Walker said he saw Taylor bleeding near him."She's right here bleeding, and nobody's coming, and I'm just confused and scared. I feel the same right now," he said.In questioning, investigators asked Walker about his and Taylor's history with law enforcement. Walker told them Taylor's record was clean while he had recently done jail time for a DUI. As investigators pressed Walker to answer why he believed police might be at Taylor's apartment that night, he responded that he didn't know. He said he thought someone was trying to break in."As I said, I and her have no dealings with the police," Walker said. "If I would have heard at the door it was the police, it would have changed the whole situation because there was nothing for us to be scared of."The files released Friday include 15 hours of audio recordings revealing the grand jury's proceedings over three days. This story was first reported by Sofia Millar at WLEX in Lexington, Kentucky. 2582

HIROSHIMA, Japan (AP) — The city of Hiroshima in western Japan is marking the 75th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing. The Aug. 6, 1945, bombing was the world’s first nuclear attack. Three days later, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki.Japan surrendered on Aug. 15, ending World War II and the Japanese aggression in Asia that lasted nearly half a century.Hiroshima was a major Japanese military hub with factories, military bases and ammunition facilities before the bombing. An estimated 140,000 people, including those with radiation-related injuries and illnesses, died from Aug. 6 through Dec. 31, 1945. That was 40% of Hiroshima’s population at the time. Hiroshima today has 1.2 million residents.Thursday, survivors of the Hiroshima bombing gathered in diminished numbers to mark the anniversary. They urged the world, and their own government, to do more to ban nuclear weapons. The coronavirus meant a small turnout, but the survivors’ message was more urgent than ever.Survivors want younger generations to learn their lessons while they are still around. As a girl, Koko Kondo had a secret mission: Revenge against those who dropped the Aug. 6, 1945, atomic bomb. She has overcome her hatred, as well as humiliation and discrimination.Kondo now is a peace activist following in the footsteps of her father, Rev. Kiyoshi Tanimoto, one of six survivors featured in John Hersey’s book “Hiroshima.” 1437
