Friendship Medals, the highest state honor to foreigners, are presented to foreign friends who have made outstanding contributions to China's modernization drive, promoting exchange and cooperation between China and the world, and safeguarding world peace, Xi said when delivering a speech.
It also has helped train about 160 scientists and senior technicians from 13 African countries.
China has benefited from reform and opening up over the past 40 years, and further reform is a prerequisite for future development, Wang said, adding that a more open China will bring more opportunities to Europe and the rest of the world.
