Talking about the China-proposed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) which is designed to finance infrastructure construction in the region, Xu said it will render further support to the inter-connectivity and community building of ASEAN, whose 10 states are all AIIB's founding members.

Ahead of a state visit to South Africa, the Chinese president suggested both sides should always advance the bilateral relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective and continuously cement and enhance political mutual trust.

Xi said China will pay more attention to efficiency and quality, innovation, equity and justice, green development, and opening to the outside world.

Gao said the two sides will push forward cooperation between the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union and strengthen coordination in multilateral organizations.
