Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vowed on Tuesday that legislators would not go home for the holidays without an approval of a stimulus bill.“We're not leaving here without a COVID package. It's not gonna happen. We're gonna stay here until we get a COVID package. But a major sticking point is on whether companies should be protected from coronavirus-related lawsuits. Pelosi and Democrats are against the proposal, citing concerns that businesses will not follow public health guidelines.“This is protection for our small businesses, so that they're not held liable for COVID incidences through no fault of their own,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Tuesday. ”And (Pelosi is) really playing up to the trial lawyers and opposing liability protection, which should be something that's just mere common sense.”Two weeks ago, a bipartisan group of legislators proposed a 0 billion stimulus plan that would extend funds for additional unemployment benefits for up to 18 weeks per worker. The legislation also would replenish funds for the Paycheck Protection Program, which helped companies affected by the pandemic make payroll.There would also be 0 billion earmarked for state and local governments, which have seen a drop in tax revenue due to the pandemic. There is in additional billion allocated toward the transportation industry, most notably for airlines, which have seen an over 50% reduction in business since March.But the bipartisan group’s newest proposal is to make the funding involving state and local governments a separate bill. It’s unclear, however, if that measure would gain enough support to pass, given McConnell’s and Trump’s past opposition to providing pandemic relief to state and local governments facing cuts amid a drop in tax revenue.Another area of contention is on whether Congress should provide Americans with a second round of stimulus checks. Screenshots from other apps like CitiBike and StreetEasy were also displaying the slur in the place of New York City.According to Snapchat, the app's "Snap Map" feature relies on third-party mapping technology built by Mapbox. However, the stigma behind cannabis could be keeping some seniors from getting much-needed relief from chronic pain, as well as sleepless nights.Greg Saweikis is one senior finding relief through cannabis. Since he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2017, he’s undergone rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. But after a suggestion from a friend, Saweikis started taking cannabis, too.He takes CBD and THC pills by Stratos. He even uses a cannabis cream for his hands.  “It seems like it really has been helping,” Saweikis says. “I sleep a little bit better.”  But Saweikis knows not all people his age and older are open to using cannabis.  “I think there is a large stigma, still,” he says. “And it's just a holdover from the 60s and the whole, you know, from demonstrations and all of that kind of thing.”  Since the 1930s you've been told there's something really bad about cannabis that's always going to be there in the back of your head.  Leland Rucker is editor of Sensi, a magazine for adults with a cannabis emphasis. He says the stigma is still attached.  “And I talked to one woman who it really helped her start to sleep. She's all of a sudden sleeping much better, but she was embarrassed about,” Rucker recalls. “She was embarrassed to talk to people about it, because she had been so cannabis negative all of her life.”But Rucker says more older Americans are exploring, encouraged in part by their children and grandchildren.  “And so, you have to find out what the reality is,” Rucker says. “And I think that now that it's legal, we've given people that opportunity.”   1725

SPRING VALLEY, Callif. (KGTV) — New video shows a man using a massive brick to break into a Spring Valley dessert shop and steal the cash register. A little after midnight on Feb. 28, the video shows a man breaking into Snoice dessert shop in Spring Valley, walking to the bakery in the back and stealing the register, which had 0 inside. Jayrell Ringpis, the store owner, said he felt violated when he saw the video. "It's just disheartening because we're not alone," he said.The thief hit at least two other businesses in the same strip mall as Snoice, which is on Paradise Valley Road. On Friday, a door was missing from a Mexican restaurant halfway down, and a donut shop had a glass door boarded up. The worker at the donut shop says this is not the first time someone has broken in through the glass.Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call around 4 a.m. Thursday but did not find the suspect. The brick left behind did have some blood on it, but the Sheriff's department didn't immediately respond to further questions.
