GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A boy in Kent County, Michigan, brought his entire class with him Thursday morning as he received a gift just in time for the holidays: a forever home.Five-year-old Michael Orlando Clark Jr. wanted all his friends to see the moment he was officially adopted, so he brought them to 17th Circuit Court to cheer him on.His parents, Andrea Melvin and David Eaton, knew Michael was the right fit for their family after fostering."He brings us a lot of joy,” Melvin said. “He's just so full of energy and so full of love, it's just been great for everybody.”There was no shortage of love around them in the courtroom."It is a great tribute to Michael that he had so many of his classmates here and so many said he was their best friend too,” Michigan Supreme Court Justice Stephen Markman said.Judge Patricia Gardner said she had never experience something like that before.“Never have I experienced that before, and it was loads of fun, the kids were into it and supporting their best friend, and the family of Michael,” she said.After Thursday’s ceremony, Eaton said he hopes other families get to share the inspiring experience his has gone through.Thirty-six other kids were also adopted Thursday as part of the 23rd annual adoption day in Kent County. 1284

Former NBA player Mike Bibby is facing sexual abuse allegations from a teacher at the Arizona school where Bibby coaches the boy's basketball team.Phoenix police said Monday that they were recently made aware of allegations involving staff at Shadow Mountain High School."As of now, the investigation is ongoing and no suspect has been named, nor any charges recommended," Phoenix police said. The alleged victim filed a restraining order against Bibby on February 22, 2019, in reference to an incident that happened on February 22, 2017.In the paperwork, the teacher says she was outside with several coworkers when Bibby pointed at her from his car and asked her to come talk. When she approached the car, Bibby allegedly got out and picked her up, forcing her into the vehicle on her back. The woman says Bibby smelled of alcohol as he touched her inappropriately and said sexually explicit things to her.The alleged victim says she managed to get out of the car, but Bibby followed her toward the school, and once again grabbed her and touched her inappropriately. The woman reported that she told Bibby to stop several times before she was able to get away and go into a private room.The victim says days after the incident, Bibby asked her to tell the athletic director of the school that everything was ok between the two of them. She says she did tell the AD that in 2017, before filing the restraining order this week.Bibby has been ruled ineligible as a volunteer coach while police and the district investigate, according to a district spokesperson.Paradise Valley Unified School District released a statement, saying: At PVSchools, our first priority is always the safety and well-being of our staff and students. We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously and work in cooperation with law enforcement on all police matters. Facing backlash, President Donald Trump informally announced outside of the White House on Thursday that his administration would continue funding its share for Special Olympics, mere hours after his Education Secretary Betsy DeVos defended the cuts for a third day in a row. "I've overridden my people, we're funding the Special Olympics," Trump said on Thursday. Trump's proposed budget still needs congressional approval. On Tuesday, DeVos met with lawmakers, and defended the Trump Administration for proposing nearly million in cuts to Special Olympics.DeVos was questioned on the subject by Rep.
