SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The public’s help is being sought in finding the driver in an Ocean Beach hit-and-run crash that killed a skateboarder.On June 4, at around 10:30 p.m., Cameron Loren was riding his skateboard westbound in the 4500 block of Voltaire Street, in the middle of the road, when he was struck by a westbound vehicle from behind.San Diego police said the driver fled the scene, leaving the 25-year-old Loren on the street with injuries.Emergency crews responded to the incident, but Loren was declared dead at the scene, according to police.A description of the driver was not available, and investigators believe the vehicle that struck Loren was a light-colored sedan that may have a damaged windshield and roofline.Anyone with information on this case, including the location of the driver or the vehicle involved, is urged to contact the SDPD Traffic Division at 858-495-7807 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to ,000 for information that leads to an arrest. 1026

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Symphony has overcome the last major obstacle to a permanent home along San Diego's waterfront.The Port of San Diego's Board of Commissioners has granted a 15-year lease for the Symphony's Bayside Performance Park project. The project will see the construction of a seashell-shaped concert venue at Embarcadero Marina Park South, as well as various improvements to the surrounding park.The lease also includes four options allowing the Symphony to extend their lease up to 50 years.The San Diego Symphony will invest a minimum of million toward those improvements, including 66 new restrooms, expansion of the current promenade, and improvements to the park's existing basketball courts and exercise equipment.RELATED: Margaritaville Island Resort coming to San Diego“We’re confident concert-goers will love the improved access and state-of-the art stage and sound system, and bayfront visitors will love the new and improved park,” said Board Chairman Garry Bonelli.The Symphony could begin construction of the venue as soon as September. Since 2004, the Symphony has had to assemble and disassemble its temporary venue for its Bayside Summer Nights concert series. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Thirteen people overcoming a unique set of obstacles plan to conquer a 13.1-mile marathon this weekend.They're called the Lucky 13."It takes a lot of courage, and you've got to be really brave, even just to apply," said Paul Carey, the Lucky 13 Coordinator, and Head Coach.The Tri-City Medical Center program assists those who have had or are currently overcoming health obstacles to achieve their fitness goals. For six months, they're professionally trained and receive wellness support ahead of the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Half-Marathon."Everything good I have in my life can be traced back to Lucky 13 and being part of that," said Carey, who was a participant years ago.For 30 years Carey felt trapped in his bipolar diagnosis.During that time, he was on heavy medications, had several psychiatric hospital stays, and underwent 50 sessions of electroconvulsive therapy.Then he found the Lucky 13 program."It's an endless foundation of support that's just something really remarkable," said Carey. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The woman who was shot in the forehead by a police bean bag during Saturday's protest in La Mesa is slowly recovering but her attorney told 10News that the family is still desperate for details from police about what happened.10News has video of 59-year-old Leslie Furcron as she was recording a Facebook Live. She is heard yelling and then the phone drops and the screen goes black.“She was struck in the forehead with a ballistic bean bag projectile,” said attorney Dante Pride during Thursday’s interview with 10News.Pride said Furcron was among the thousands of people in front of the La Mesa Police Department. He said that she was peacefully protesting police violence and the killing of George Floyd when he said that it all turned to chaos and an officer fired at Furcron. On Wednesday, the department said that once officers deemed the gathering to be an unlawful assembly, they began to use measures to disperse protestors, including tear gas and bean bag rounds. Furcron was placed in a medically induced coma with a breathing tube, which was just removed. “On June 3rd, they took the tube out of Ms. Furcron’s mouth. She is still is unable to speak at this point and she did have a surgery I believe on the 2nd to repair the damage to her forehead,” added Pride. He said that doctors still don’t know if she’ll lose an eye.On Thursday afternoon, La Mesa Police reported that the investigation is ongoing and there are no new details to release.Pride said he believes that a third party should be investigating the incident and that the officer who fired the bean bag should face criminal charges if it's deemed appropriate. “There should never be a point in time where an officer should shoot a metal projectile bean bag from an elevated position down on a crowd. That is dangerous and it can kill people and it almost killed Ms. Furcron,” he added.Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez tweeted about the use of less lethal weapons on protestors. Her tweet reads, “In response to recent days filled with images of peaceful protestors maimed by rubber bullets, we will be introducing legislation to set clear standards on how law enforcement should (and shouldn’t) use these weapons.
