And that's responsible for making the right and wrong decision," she explained.Bronstein says many attending these parties are young single men going through the 'Young Male Syndrome.'"They just love engaging in high-risk behavior such as high-speed driving, doing illicit drugs, doing the tide-pod challenge, the cinnamon challenge, and in this case, going to a COVID party," she said.Here in the Tampa Bay area, we've seen young people lining up outside local establishments without masks and not social distancing.So how can parents get their kids to realize, they're not invincible?"First sit down with your kids and have a discussion about decision making and consequences. And you want to be able to talk with your children, not to them. You want them to feel seen and heard and you really want to listen to them," she said.And if you have adult friends not following CDC guidelines?This social worker recommends going into the conversation without any judgment."You don't want the other person to feel defensive. And basically just go in with compassion. I care about you. (KGTV) - The family of an 11-year-old boy who was killed in the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka held a celebration of life ceremony in Lakeside Wednesday night.They gathered on a trail in Oak Oasis County Park to remember Kieran Shafritz de Zoysa, on what would have been his 12th birthday.About a mile down the trail, they unveiled a new bench with a plaque in his memory, telling future hikers to “Be like Kieran.”“Kieran’s mindset was always about helping others,” said Alex Arrow, his father who lives in Lakeside.“He was the greatest ray of light that my life has ever seen,” said Dhulsini de Zoysa, Kieran’s mother.Both parents described him as curious, intelligent and empathetic.“He was just a sponge. He took in everything regardless of the topic,” said his mother.Arrow said his son had dreams of becoming a neuroscientist, with the goal of finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease. “I also grieve for what the world lost,” said Arrow. “That piece of shrapnel from the suicide bomber struck down a future champion against the unknowns of the brain.”In total, 259 people were killed in a series of coordinated bombings on April 21 in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo. 1202

LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - A local company wants to fill the gap of high unemployment among the blind and visually-impaired.While the majority are college-educated, 70 percent are unemployed. San Diego-based company Aira hopes to reverse the trend. The assistive technology service is announcing a new initiative to provide free service through the Aira?Employment Program.Aira uses smart glasses equipped with a camera that streams live video to a remote, human agent. Using the video stream, GPS, and web data, agents offer live, on-demand assistance to people who are blind or visually impaired.Now job-seekers will be able to take advantage of the service for free as they look for employment. Agents will help navigate employment sites, fill out applications, build resumes, and travel to and from meetings with prospective employers. "Besides ignorance of not knowing what a blind person is capable of doing, the accommodation aspect is the other fear and Aira can help bridge a lot of that," said Juan Hernandez, an Aira Software Engineer who is totally blind. With help from the community and national partners, Aira has an ambitious goal of lowering the unemployment number from 70 percent to under 7 percent.By removing barriers, Aira hopes companies will see an opportunity, blind and visually-impaired workers ready to put their vast skills and talents to work.  1436
