Hackers breached an Equifax payroll-related service in March, months before the company said criminals accessed the personal records of 143 million people.On Monday, Equifax said the March incident was unrelated to the recently disclosed hack that occurred between May and July 2017."The criminal hacking that was discovered on July 29 did not affect the customer databases hosted by the Equifax business unit that was the subject of the March event," Equifax said in a statement.Security breach disclosure laws require businesses to disclose hacks if they include personal identifiable information like social security numbers, drivers licenses or state IDs. Equifax says it reported the March incident to customers, affected individuals and regulators.According to a report from Bloomberg, an insider says the same intruders were involved in both breaches. However, Equifax denies the incidents are related.Equifax did not provide additional information about the March breach, but journalist Brian Krebs reported that between April 2016 and March 2017, hackers accessed tax records through Equifax subsidiary TALX, a payroll and tax service provider.Equifax hired cybersecurity firm Mandiant to investigate both the March and July incidents."Mandiant has investigated both events and found no evidence that these two separate events or the attackers were related," Equifax said in a statement.The vulnerability used to access 143 million records was disclosed in March. Equifax has said it was aware of the vulnerability at the time and took efforts to patch it, however, the hackers used the flaw to steal information months later. The credit reporting agency announced the breach on Sept. 8 and confirmed the breach occurred between mid-May and July.It is unknown who was responsible for the hack disclosed earlier this month.The FBI and the Federal Trade Commission are investigating the breach. Home listings in more cities will no longer use the word "master" to describe large bedrooms and bathrooms.In June, the Houston Association of Realtors decided to instead use the word “primary” to describe the largest bedroom or bathroom in a home listing.The association, HAR for short, updated listings on the website through mid-June. In a statement, the organization said the change has been “raised and considered for many years” and was one of nine requests submitted from HAR members for discussion at recent meetings about updating MLS listings. Other requests included things like electric vehicle charging stations and balcony details.“The overarching message was that some members were concerned about how the terms might be perceived by some other agents and consumers. Based on the discussion that took place, more members viewed the terms as sexist than racist, although some did view them as racist,” the statement said. “The origin of the terms is debated, and we are not saying they are rooted in slavery.”The word “master” is not banned within the organization and members, only in their online listings. Realtors may choose to use “master” on their own materials selling a home.HAR told members the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has already advised that use of the term “master bedroom” or “master bathroom” is not discriminatory and does not violate Fair Housing laws.Some builders have already dropped the term years ago, HAR said. According to the Houston Chronicle, at least one builder in Texas now calls a home's primary bedroom an "owner's retreat." Hospital nurses in Philadelphia are ready to go on strike amid a surge of coronavirus cases across the country, according to the union. The union said in a statement that 800 members of the union at St. Mary Medical Center are planning to picket on Tuesday and Wednesday. One of the main sticking points is minimum staffing levels, which is the proportion of patients to nurses in a hospital.“Safe staffing is the main issue in our negotiation--it's why we organized last year in the first place,” says Kathy McKamey R.N., who works on St Mary's MG2 unit and has been at the hospital for 10 years, said in a statement provided by the union. “Trinity has refused to commit to the minimal safe staffing guidelines every study out there has said improve patient outcomes. But the truth is, even if they had, we don't have the staff to fill them because our wage scale is so far below that of area hospitals. Nurses are literally fleeing to other hospitals 20 minutes away where they can make to more an hour. My unit alone has lost 20 nurses since January; the perioperative areas have lost 35 nurses in the last year. The grids are meaningless if you can't find nurses to fill the spots."Adding to nurses’ concern is the possibility of having to report to work while infected with the coronavirus. Last week, the state of North Dakota called upon asymptomatic nurses to remain on the job amid a spike in COVID-19 cases and a shortage of nurses.“Nurses working across all health care settings and specialties are essential to combating COVID-19,” wrote Tarik Khan and Betsy M. Snook of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association in a joint statement released Monday. “Unfortunately, nearly 400 nurses in the United States have died due to COVID-19, and many others have been infected and hospitalized. This lack of protection for our nurses is unacceptable. Nurses and health care workers who are risking their lives, and the health of their own families, deserve better.“They deserve all of the PPE, testing, supplies, and safe staffing they need to fight COVID-19 and, if they contract the virus, all of the rest that is required to mend and fully heal. Health care organizations should use all other staffing resources for replacement providers so that those nurses who test positive for COVID-19 can get the required rest to recuperate.”Hospitals in the Philadelphia area told the Philadelphia Inquirer that they would hire replacement nurses to work if the union goes on strike."We respect the union members’ right to strike, and we remain committed to negotiating in good faith to reach agreement on a fair, consistent and sustainable initial contract for St. Mary nurses. We look forward to the day productive negotiations can resume," said a statement from Trinity Health. GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Bryshere Gray, an actor on the TV show "Empire," was arrested Sunday night in connection with a domestic violence incident at a Goodyear home.According to Goodyear police, officers responded to reports that a woman had been assaulted and arrived at a Circle K at Estrella Parkway and McDowell Road around 10:15 p.m.Police said the victim flagged down a citizen shortly before at another gas station and said she had been assaulted at her home "for several hours" by her husband, who she identified as Bryshere Gray.The victim was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries, and Goodyear detectives and victims' advocates continued to assist after she was discharged from the hospital.When officers tried to contact Gray at his home near Estrella Parkway and Westar Drive, he refused to come out and speak with the police.Goodyear SWAT and Crisis Negotiations were called to the scene to assist.According to police, Gray surrendered without incident just after 7 a.m. Monday. He was taken into custody and will be booked on domestic violence charges.Gray portrays Hakeem Lyon on "Empire."
