PARADISE HILLS (CNS) - A 28-year-old man and his 27-year-old passenger were injured today after the 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle they were riding crashed into a stationary vehicle in the Paradise Hills neighborhood of San Diego.The collision happened at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 6400 block of Potomac Street, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.``The driver lost control of his motorcycle and slid into a parked vehicle,'' Heims said. ``The driver sustained broken knees along with several other injuries.''The passenger suffered a dislocated right hip. Both were transported to a local hospital.A San Diego Police Traffic Division investigation determined the crash occurred, at least in part, because of substance intoxication. 774

Pharmacy chain Walgreens said on Friday that it will be working with 35,000 assisted care facilities throughout the US in the coming weeks and months in administering the coronavirus vaccine.Earlier this week, CVS announced plans to vaccinate those working or living in 40,000 assisted living facilities.Walgreens expects to vaccinate 3 million residents and staff at facilities throughout the US. CVS did not announced how many people they expect to vaccinate through the program.Starting next week, Walgreens will be administering coronavirus vaccines to residents and staff at 800 facilities spread across 12 US states.CVS and Walgreens are expected at some point to administer the coronavirus vaccine to the general public, but when is still a major question. Plans to build a new 4-acre, .5 million park in National City got a boost this week, thanks to a partnership with the federal government.The Environmental Health Coalition will help the city plan the park and the surrounding area, to make sure people can access the park without having to drive there.National City is one of just 10 communities across the country chosen for the Safe Routes to Parks Initiative.The new park will be near 22nd Street and Harding, where an empty field sits right now. As part of the construction, the EHC will help design safer streets around the park."Kids are trying to get from point a to point b and they have to cross through that main road," explains City Engineer Jose Lopez. "Without enhancements to the road, there's no way a 10-year old or 5-year old can cross the street."The EHC will help the city plan curb extensions, a median refuge island in crosswalks and local trails to let people walk through parks instead of along busy streets.According to a release announcing the partnership, communities chosen for the program had high rates of crime and violence, and also high rates of weight-related chronic diseases. The Safe Routes to Parks program  hopes to increase park use and help communities become healthier and safer.Right now the park is still in the planning stages. OTAY MOUNTAIN, Calif. (KGTV) - An illegal immigrant rescued by Border Patrol agents during hot weather in South San Diego County "signaled gratitude" with a thumbs up gesture, CBP San Diego said.The man had crossed the border illegally and called 911 from Otay Mountain Thursday after midnight to get help, officials said. Agents used a helicopter to find the man and remove him from rough terrain, according to the CBP San Diego Twitter feed. Temperatures in the area were in the mid-80s with high humidity at the time.The immigrant was suffering from severe dehydration and was treated at a Border Patrol station, officials said. The unidentified man, a Mexican citizen, faces removal, CBP San Diego tweeted. 718
