Maurizio Rios, who lives near the alley, can barely look at it."Feels terrible. It's a dump," said Rios.The men who sullied that image were likely not aware that Rios' surveillance cameras were watching.Monday afternoon, just before 3:30 p.m., a pickup truck loaded with stuff was seen driving down Dayton Street and turning into an alley. From several other cameras, the truck is seen driving through the alley, before it finally stops. Two people then get out and begin unloading. More than four minutes later, the truck drives off."It's unbelievable. Why don't they just take it to the dump?" said Rios.Rios filed a police report and delivered a big clue: a clear image of the front license plate. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance video captured a group of thieves in action, targeting mail in Paradise Hills.After 11 p.m. Sunday on Grove View Road, the videos show a woman stroll by, a man and another woman following close behind.The group splits up. The two women are seen on one side of the road, glancing around.On the other side is the backpack-toting man, who appears to peer inside a mailbox.Soon after, a car pulls into Amanda Sewell's house.The women walk by and watch Sewell's aunt walk into the home, before possibly signaling the man.The man then walks up to Sewell's mailbox, grabs a bundle of mail and walks away. 642

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The bomb squad was called to the 2300 block of Meadow Lark Drive around 6:20 p.m. after a man reported he found WWII-era Japanese grenades.The man, Mike Carter, is a former Marine and said his training kicked in when he found the three gnarled pieces of metal."I just figured it would be the right thing to do to dispose of them properly and not throw them in the trash," Carter said.He is a hobbyist, buying items like radio-controlled cars, helicopters and other toys, and then he sells them online. One remote control helicopter that he said he paid for is actually valued closer to ,500.This was his second time buying a storage locker and his interest was piqued by a Saturn IV Rocket. With it came a wooden box he put in the bed of his truck.As he worked his way through the items inside, he came across the bombs.Carter said he took a picture of them, then put them back where he found them and called the bomb squad.He said he was never nervous about them exploding, saying they've been around at least 75 years.His street was shut down for about an hour. He apologized for the trouble to his neighbors.When it comes to whether he'll ever buy a storage locker again, he said maybe. There would have to be something worthwhile inside, and he would check the contents before bringing anything home. 1362

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The man responsible for a fatal drunk driving crash nearly two years ago was sentenced to more than three decades in prison Friday. San Diego Superior Court Judge Joan Weber handed Jeffrey Levi a sentence of 30 years to life in prison, plus an additional four years for the crash that killed 19-year-old Isaac Felix and 33-year-old Jesus Dominguez. “I do want to remind you Mr. Levi, because I know that you’re going to be living with that for the rest of your life, that you killed these two young people and burned them to death, you permanently maimed another young woman, and injured an officer,” said Weber. “By my count, you made four fatal decisions on that night."In January 2018, Levi got behind the wheel of his Mustang while drunk and drove more than 100 miles per hour on Interstate 15. RELATED: 2 dead in fiery crash on I-15 in Scripps RanchHis car slammed into a Toyota Corolla carrying Felix, Jesus Dominguez, and Giovanna Dominguez. The Corolla was disabled in the freeway lanes, then hit by an SUV driven by an off-duty San Diego Police sergeant. The sedan burst into flames, killing Felix and Jesus Dominguez. Giovanna was severely injured but rescued by Good Samaritans. Sgt. Raymond Rowe was also injured. Levi fled the scene, completely uninjured. He was later found and arrested. “I made very serious mistakes with detrimental consequences; I relapsed,” said Levi after explaining his attempt at rehab for his alcoholism. “I think of Jesus, Isaac, Giovanna and their friends and families every day. I wish that I could do or say something to change what happened, but I can’t and I have to live with that forever.” In August, a jury found Levi guilty of second-degree murder, hit and run, drunk driving, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He also has a prior DUI conviction from 2007. The victims’ families have also filed a civil lawsuit against Levi, the City of San Diego and Sgt. Rowe. That case is pending. 1977
