Lawmakers in West Virginia did something Monday night that might be a first in American history: impeach an entire state Supreme Court.The West Virginia House of Delegates' impeachment of the justices on the state's Supreme Court of Appeals is an unprecedented move spurred by an escalating scandal in the state's judicial system. But West Virginia Democrats charge it's just a ploy by Republicans to put more conservative judges on the bench in the state's highest court.The court's justices -- Chief Justice Margaret Workman and Justices Allen Loughry, Robin Davis and Elizabeth Walker -- are accused of failing to carry out the court's administrative duties and wasteful spending during office renovations.They were impeached on 11 articles of impeachment, dealing with wasteful spending, maladministration, incompetency, neglect of duty and potential criminal behavior, according to a press release from state House Speaker Pro Tempore John Overington. 964

LA MESA (KGTV) -- A businessman attacked a group of reporters on a La Mesa sidewalk. It all started with reports of lewd acts outside his business.La Mesa Police Department investigators are looking into harassment claims after a disturbing video captured outside a local business circulated online. A snap shot from that video appears to show a man and a woman outside Peter's Men Apparel, a local men's clothing retailer on La Mesa Blvd. over the weekend.The man in the video appears to have his hands up a woman's shirt.REPORT: La Mesa Police looking into harassment claims at local businessPolice said they've received at least two crime reports — one for battery and one for lewd act in public — in regards to separate incidents at the store on Saturday, Jan. 18.News crews returned to area near where the incident occurred to talk with the owner at Peter's Men Apparel. A man outside of the store started assaulting a photographer and then began hitting another reporter, which resulted in a brief fight.Video from the attack shows the man cursing at everyone, attacking a photographer, and slapping a phone out of reporter's hand before walking into the store.La Mesa police officers responded to the scene and are working with the reporters to gather information about the attack.The crews that were assaulted will be pressing charges.As for the incidents over the weekend, police haven't named the suspect. La Mesa investigators have not identified the man in the video.10News reporter Mimi Elkalla spoke with the owner of Peter's Men Apparel, Peter Carzis, on Monday and he seemed to laugh off the situation regarding the lewd video. He said he knew it was inappropriate, but didn't see what the big deal was and claimed the woman came onto him.Police were also looking into reports that the owner spit on a man as he was walking down La Mesa Blvd with his wife on Saturday. Legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is turning his Academy Award-winning movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" into a book.HarperCollins Publishers announced on Tuesday that the Oscar-winning screenwriter had signed a two-book deal with them.His first novel, scheduled to be released next summer in paperback, will move forward and backward in time as it focuses on the lives of the movie's characters TV actor Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth."In the seventies, movie novelizations were the first adult books I grew up reading," says Tarantino in the press release. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A new report from La Mesa Police show that crime in the city has decreased dramatically over the last year.According to East County Magazine, most individual crime categories are at a minimum of five-year lows with overall trends around the levels seen by the city in the 1960’s, marking 50-year lows.Crime from the fourth quarter of 2016 to the fourth quarter of 2017 decreased by more than 27 percent.MAP: Track crime in your neighborhoodViolent crimes have also seen a significant decrease since 2016. According to a report, La Mesa saw a more than 18 percent decrease in 2017 compared to the same time in 2016.Other crimes that dropped off were robberies, with a decrease of more than 10 percent, and property crimes, with a decrease of more than 28 percent.La Mesa Police Captain Matt Nichols said having the budget to be fully staffed has enabled more officers to be in the field.More outreach within the community has also led to more tips and an emphasis on attacking issues before they grow are also helping keep crime low.Another factor in the city’s success is a focus on the 911 dispatch which is run by the department.
