CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A 29-year-old man was stabbed in the torso and leg Friday morning at a homeless encampment in Chula Vista, police said.Firefighters requested police assistance at 4:30 a.m. after responding to a report of an injured man in the 2400 block of Main Street, east of Interstate 5, Chula Vista police Lt. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Four people were displaced when a fire damaged their South Bay home Sunday morning, authorities said.Dispatchers were alerted at about 9:20 a.m. to a fire at a house near the intersection of Madden and Donax avenues, according to the San Diego Police Department. The area is just west of Beyer Boulevard.Firefighters found a small fire in the attic, and were able to get everyone out of the house and extinguish the flames, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department official said. The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. The Red Cross was called to assist with finding shelter for the home's occupants, the Fire-Rescue official said. 662

CINCINNATI — Cross-country runner Justin Gallegos is making history. He’s the first athlete with cerebral palsy to sign an endorsement contract with Nike. The University of Oregon junior was given the news last weekend after a college race, and he was visibly touched by achieving his dream of becoming a professional runner. Justin’s parents, Brent and Tracy Gallegos, say they’re proud all Justin has worked to achieve, and were stunned to see him in that moment."I’ve never seen him that emotional ever…..ever," Brent Gallegos said.Justin’s condition affects muscle and motor function, but he didn’t let that stop him."He works very hard for it and when he sets his goals, he sets them very high," Tracy Gallegos said.His story of overcoming obstacles is inspiring others. (KGTV) - Legislation needed to advance the Chula Vista Bayfront Project was signed Friday by Governor Jerry Brown.Assembly Bill 2646 authorizes the transfer of a 97-acre parcel of land in Chula Vista to the San Diego Unified Port District.
