SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was arrested after police say he stabbed his friend, then returned to watching a UFC fight.The stabbing happened on the 3000 block of Midway Drive around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Police say the two friends took a Lyft from downtown to the Midway District when they got into a fight.After leaving the car, the pair’s argument became even more heated before the suspect, Paul McNett, 43, wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck and stabbed him in the front of his neck.RELATED: Man shot during road rage incident in Del CerroAfter the stabbing, McNett stayed at the restaurant to watch the UFC fight.The 55-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Los Angeles area man says the San Diego County District Attorney's office charged him with a crime he didn't commit.Angel Galvan says the mistake cost him money, time and when you search his name at the courthouse a court file."For me to go through all of this, it hurt a lot," said Angel Galvan.Galvan says in July of this year, he received a letter from the San Diego County District Attorney saying he'd been charged with Grand Theft of Personal Property from Go Wireless. He thought it was a mail scam."What is PC 487," Galvan said.It was no scam.Galvan says the district attorney's office claimed he and other people were using stolen credit cards to buy merchandise from a Go Wireless location in the San Diego area."I hope you realize I live in the valley (San Fernando) like I don't live nowhere near San Diego," Galvan said.Galvan lives in Panorama City, that's in Los Angeles County, about two and a half hours from San Diego.Galvan says he did work at a Go Wireless store near his home, but for only two months, and that was back in 2017. The alleged crime happened in March of 2018."Every day I got home, I was stressed," Galvan said. "I couldn't believe it," he said.According to a claim, Galvan filed with the County of San Diego, "It turns out that another individual named Angel Galvan worked at Go Wireless, but worked in San Diego, committing crimes."Team 10 obtained an email sent by a San Diego County Deputy District Attorney in August of 2019 to Galvan's criminal attorney acknowledging he was not the correct Angel Galvan.The email stated, "HR at Go Wireless mixed him up with another Angel Galvan. I will calendar a dismissal asap. Sorry for the mix-up.""No one called him, no one looked to see if it was the right person, no one checked his address no one checked his work records," said Galvan's civil attorney Alex Ozols.Ozols claims the District Attorney's office did not do any further investigation after receiving Galvan's information from Go Wireless, and that's a problem."A lot of time, they do get it right, and we appreciate that they are representing the state of California," Ozols said. "However, when they get it wrong, the repercussions are just so bad when they do, and in this case, they did."Galvan tells 10News he had to sell his truck to pay the legal fees. He also had to drive to San Diego for an arraignment where he was order to do a book and release. He says he was fingerprinted and had his DNA taken.According to the claim, "He will/does have this listed on his Department of Justice print out, he is still in the police system, an arrest records still exists, and his DNA was taken against his 4th amendment constitutional right because he was charged with a felony."Galvan says he lived in constant fear he'd go to jail, and his son would grow up without a father."I work 50-60-hour weeks. I barely even see my son now, and the last thing I wanted to do was go to jail and not be able to see him at all," Galvan said.Galvan said when the case was finally dismissed there was a wave of emotion."It hurts a lot because of everything I went through," he said.Both the San Diego County District Attorney's office and Go Wireless said they couldn't comment on pending litigation.Galvan's attorney tells 10News the County of San Diego rejected the legal claim, and they do plan to file a lawsuit.Court records show there is an ongoing court case involving another person named Angel Galvan. 10News tried to track that person down was unable to speak with anyone. 3540

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A nurse who pleaded guilty in the brutal death of her boyfriend's baby has been granted parole."Angry, angry," said Deanna Stanley, the grandmother of 7-month-old Nicole Alegado.Stanley spoke to 10News after attending a state parole board hearing Thursday and learning the woman who killed her granddaughter was granted parole.Back in 2008, in order to avoid a trial, the baby's family supported a plea deal. "Emotionally we couldn't handle it," said Stanley.Eileen Villamajor, a nurse living in National City, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the killing her boyfriend's daughter, saying she was frustrated by her cries. She was sentenced to 15 years to life."Eileen picked her up by the hair and threw her to the ground twice. Nicole remained crying. Eileen held her head in her hands until she heard it crack, at which time Nicole stopped crying," said Stanley.Stanley sat through those unbearable details at Villamayor's parole hearing in Corona. She listened to Villamayor's petition, including her good behavior in prison and completion of classes to control her emotions. Stanley is still convinced Villamayor is dangerous."For someone to do something that something horrific with their hands ... I don't know if you can cure that in a class," said Stanley.Stanely says Villamayor showed no remorse during the hearing but revealed something new about the motive, which involved about Nicole taking up her father's time."She said she hated Nicole, resented Nicole. To me that shows premeditation. If we had gone to trial, I think she would have been convicted of first-degree murder," said Stanley.In the end, the parole board deciding to grant Villamayor parole. She could serve 13 years and 7 months of a sentence of 15 years to life. Proposition 57 passed in 2016 allows her to accrue good behavior credits which can reduce a life sentence."There is no justice here," said Stanley.The earliest Villamayor can be released is March 2020. The family has 120 days to appeal to the governor's office to overturn the decision, which they plan to do. The District Attorney's office, which backed the family at the hearing, says they will likely write a letter urging the governor to overturn the parole decision. 2250

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A nurse who works for the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility tested positive for coronavirus Wednesday, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department says. According to the department, the nurse has been isolated at home. No other information was provided about the individual's condition at this time. The department says it has identified inmates and staff who may have come into close contact with the nurse. A total of nine employees are considered at low exposure risk. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Rancho Bernardo family's home has become a must-see experience for their neighbors. Inspired by Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, the Loveless family has created a walk-through Halloween event that has grown bigger and bigger each year. She has recreated many of the iconic characters from the popular ride, as well as adding other spooks and haunts.For creator Katherine Loveless, it brings her back to her childhood. "I grew up on a city street that had a lot of haunted houses like this, so I grew up with it," Loveless said.Loveless and her husband, Bernard, began work on this year's Loveless Manor in August. They have created panels, which serve as moveable walls to create a maze-like path that runs through their yard. The family put a lot of thought into how to adjust their plans for the pandemic.“Last year we did kind of a smaller, tight trail that went in and out the same gateway," Bernard said. "We knew that wasn’t an option and we needed to have the whole trail outside and have more space between groups.”Loveless Manor is only open Halloween night.
