PHOENIX — Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego says one area hospital is nearing capacity in its morgue and may be requesting refrigerated trucks. The morgue at the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's office is also reportedly near capacity.Gallego said Friday morning that officials are looking at an option to prevent problems at the Phoenix-area Abrazo Health Hospital."It's specific just to one area…this is not a statewide problem," Gallego said. "Maricopa County... is looking at everything they can do."Abrazo Health later issued a statement saying that they have "adequate" morgue space, but are taking "proactive" steps to ensure they have overflow morgue space if needed.Gallego added that "we are losing too many Arizonans." She also urged Arizona Gov. PALA, Calif. (KGTV) - A North County family lost everything in a fire but their dog, thanks to a man who ran into a burning home. Firefighters yelled at Jose Guzman to stop as he ran past them into the house in Pala this week. "When I ran through curtain of fire where my van was and fence, I didn't know what was behind that, decided to come here anyways,” said Guzman. Guzman didn’t care about belongings; he wanted to save his pit bull, Gabbana. "I knew my dog was here, I knew she was here,” he said. “I ran through here tried to stay in the middle this was going, this was on fire, couldn't see anything." Gabbana was hiding behind the toilet. "All I wanted was to get my dog, I came in here, I didn't hesitate, I just, I had to get her, she's part of the family." Guzman, his wife, and two daughters had only lived in the home two months. "There's nothing that survived, nothing, all our savings were here." Guzman managed to save what mattered. "Me and family would've been destroyed, we love that dog, I'm sure there's people that would do the same thing,” Guzman said. While firefighters caution against untrained people running into fires, Guzman's rescued had a happy ending. No one was hurt and the community is helping the family through GoFundMe. 1268

PHOENIX - Believe it or not, a shelter pup was returned to the Arizona Animal Welfare League in Phoenix because he was too good.In a Monday Facebook post, AAWL said 1-year-old Binx was adopted and returned within 48 hours with notes saying he's potty-trained, good with kids and fun to play with. Turns out, Binx's temporary new family wanted more of a challenge from their adoptive pooch and returned him to AAWL.According to the shelter's Facebook page, Binx "can't get anything done at the shelter because everyone is petting me, telling me what a good boy I am, and taking me for walks!"Binx's profile on the AAWL?website says an active family would be ideal for the large-breed dog, who loves to run, hike, and do "anything that involves being outside."Anyone who wants more information on Binx can check him out here. 836

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Two people were shot Friday evening during a football game at Palm Beach Central High School in Florida.According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, one of the victims was located on the school property. The second victim was transported to a local hospital by a friend. Officials say both victims are currently being treated at area hospitals. Their conditions are unknown. Gender and ages of the victims have not been confirmed at this time. Initial reports from district personnel indicated the shots seem to have come from outside the stadium, the school district said. Details on this remain under investigation. Dwyer student-athletes boarded the bus and were escorted back to Dwyer High School, according to Kathy Burstein with the School District of Palm Beach County. Unaccompanied students were picked up in the school's bus loop. There were a number of law enforcement officers on site. All students are safe, no students are reported injured, according to a tweet from PBCSD.School district officials present at the football game, including school police, school principal, assistant principals and many others do not report any kind of student altercation prior to shots being fired and no student disruptions leading up to shots being fired were reported either, said Burstein. All district outdoor activities, sporting events, and practices are canceled for the weekend, including third-party rentals of athletic fields, according to the school district. Suspect information and motive are unknown at this time. The shooter is still not in custody, officials say. PBSO says this is not an active shooter situation. Palm Beach County School Board Police have requested PBSO Violent Crimes Division to assume the shooting investigation.  1882

OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a person of interest after a mother and daughter were shot and killed at an Otay Mesa home Sunday morning.San Diego Police were called to the residence on the 4300 block of Ebersole Drive after receiving reports of shots fired around 8:30 a.m.When police arrived they found a 37-year-old woman in the front yard with a gunshot wound.Police then learned that another woman was injured inside the house. They found a 65-year-old woman, also suffering from gunshot wounds.Both of the women who were shot died from their injuries. Police believe that the person of interest in the case, Justice Love Peace, aka. Jeremiah Horton, took a 6-month-old boy from the home. Shortly after 3 p.m., police said they had safely located the 6-month-old boy, but were still searching for Horton.Horton is considered armed and dangerous.Police believe Horton is the infant's father, the 37-year-old woman is the infant's mother, and the 65-year-old woman is the 37-year-old's mother.
