Harvey Weinstein is currently being treated for a fever and being closely monitored at the correction facility in Western New York where he's serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape and sexual assault, representatives for the disgraced movie mogul said Tuesday. Both his publicist and Weinstein's rep from the New York State Department of Corrections said they could "neither confirm nor deny" that Weinstein has tested positive for COVID-19. "We can confirm that Mr. Weinstein has a fever and is being closely monitored by the excellent medical staff at Wende CF, for which the entire legal defense team is grateful," his reps said in a statement. "It should come as no surprise that Mr Weinstein has numerous maladies and conditions, including a heart condition, high blood pressure and spinal stenosis. We are working with the NYSDOCCS and the excellent team at Wende CF to ensure Mr. Weinstein receives the proper medical attention he needs." Back when he was first confirmed COVID-19 positive, Weinstein’s lawyers said he was also dealing with the ramifications of unsuccessful back surgery stemming from a car crash last summer and a condition that requires shots in his eyes so he does not go blind.Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years on rape and criminal sex act charges. Officials had said Weinstein faced a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 25 years in prison on the first-degree criminal sex act count, and a maximum penalty of four years in prison for third-degree rape.He was found not guilty of three other charges, including two counts of predatory sexual assault, which carried a potential life sentence.The allegations against Weinstein spawned the #MeToo movement. CA?ON CITY, Colo. – Thousands have come through the gates of the Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility. But what happens when they walk out? The prison has dozens of programs meant to help the inmates become valued members of society. One program – involving dogs – is called the Prison Trained K-9 Companion Program. Lawrence Trujillo and Zachery Montoya are master dog trainers. They've have been training dogs at the corrections center for five years. “We are with these dogs seven days a week, 24 hours a day,” Trujillo said. They teach the dogs how to follow commands, and how to be on their best behavior. It’s a very coveted job. “Some of these guys haven’t seen a dog in 20 years,” Montoya said. However, getting into the program isn’t easy. “In order to be considered they actually have to apply for the job. They have to meet certain criteria – they have to have a GED – because we’re required them to read information and process it. And they have to be on their best behavior documented for at least six months," K-9 supervisor Michele Wayland said. According to Wayland, it takes about a year to achieve a master handler certification. “We get a dog buddy, and we learn from a master trainer. We go through about 14 months of book work, we have tests in their monthly – hands on tests with the dogs as we progress as trainers – and we have to pass each one of those tests to become a master trainer,” Trujillo said. The guys say they gain more than just life skills. They're also helping families who haven’t been able to effectively train their dogs. “Coming to prison is not so fun, but being able to give something back is very rewarding,” Montoya said. Since the program was created in 2002, inmates have trained nearly 13,000 dogs. A majority of them come from private families who help fund the program through boarding and training fees. “There is no taxpayer dollar supporting this program, so we have to float our own boat,” Wayland said. The program has seen a lot of success the past couple decades. Wayland says Colorado was one of the first, if not the first state to start K-9 training at prisons. Now, they're all across the country. “There actually is a K-9 program in prisons in every state of the union,” Wayland said. The positive results of the program can be seen in the inmates who are hired. “I didn’t have a lot of skills before I came to prison, so this is something I could definitely I could take with me and do out there. There’s been many guys who have left and have been successful doing this one the streets,” Montoya said. Whether working at a shelter, a kennel, or starting their own training business, both Montoya and Trujillo say they’d love to continue working with dogs once they get out of prison. CLEVELAND, Ohio – An 11-year-old boy was shot and killed while attending a birthday party in Cleveland on Saturday. Authorities say the shooting occurred at a residence in the city’s Hough neighborhood around 9:30 p.m. EMS transported the child, later identified as Tyshaun Taylor, to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The resident of the apartment told police that she had allowed her 16-year-old son to host a birthday party. She said she had left to go to a nearby store when the shooting happened. The Federal Trade Commission said Americans should be wary if they receive a phone call regarding their stimulus check. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the US government issued ,200 checks to millions of Americans with a number of businesses closed. The FTC is warning that scammers could potentially try to trick you out of your personal information. The agency says that fraudsters rig caller ID to make the number appear to come from a government hotline.“Government agencies usually will not call or email you — especially about something related to money. They almost always contact you by US mail,” the FTC said.The IRS is sending letters to Americans as a confirmation for receiving the stimulus check.The FTC says that scammers will claim to be calling over something such as Medicare, Social Security, or in this case, your stimulus check, and will ask for personal information to verify.“If you get a call or email from the IRS or any government agency asking you for personal information or money, that’s a scam. Hang up the phone or delete the email,” the FTC said.If you have questions about your stimulus check, you can call an IRS hotline at 800-919-9835.The IRS said earlier this month that 159 million Americans have received a stimulus check. Ohio has been added to the Ohio Department of Health’s COVID-19 Travel Advisory map, meaning the state is recommending Ohioans avoid traveling to Ohio, and those entering Ohio after traveling from Ohio are advised to self-quarantine in Ohio for 14 days.Obviously, outside of The Matrix or a Christopher Nolan movie, this is physically impossible. To be clear, you are free to move about the state, but the ODH recommends staying home except for necessary trips.The ODH included this statement on this week's travel advisory: "This is the first week since April where Ohio’s positivity for COVID-19 has increased above 15%. The state has seen record levels of cases, deaths, and hospitalizations in the past week, and all Ohioans can help to limit the spread and impact of this virus. This includes recommendations to stay at home except for necessary trips for supplies, consistent mask-wearing when around others, and frequent hand washing. Together we can help stop the spread of COVID-19."Ohio was added to its own travel advisory map because, as ODH states, the 7-day rolling average positivity rate for COVID-19 tests in the state rose above 15% for the first time since April this week. Any state with a positivity rate above 15% is put on the map, and the ODH recommends against travel to those states with high positivity.The positivity rate is an indicator of how much COVID-19 there is in a community, ODH states, and comes from state-level aggregate data from The COVID Tracking Project.
