Now one Cheektowaga, New York girl is using the lemonade she makes to buy happiness for other children. Eight year-old Abby Jacques was devastated when she found out someone stole her brand new bike from her home on Cleveland Drive, so she decided to take action. She set up a lemonade stand to raise money for a new bike. Word about what happened to Abby spread on social media.After Erie County Comptroller, Stefan Mychajliw posted a photo on Facebook, the community pitched in to help Abby get a new set of wheels.Mychajliw and Howard Cadmus, owner of Sweet Jenny's in Williamsville, split the cost of a new bike.You can still find Abby outside of her home selling lemonade, but now to help others.All of Abby's future lemonade sales will be given to children in need of bikes and helmets at the Seneca Babcock Community Center.For those looking to support Abby, a PayPal account has been set up.  1007

TOWN OF DOVER, Wis. -- Authorities believe a woman who escaped from the Robert E. Ellsworth Correctional Center Thursday broke into a nearby home and stole a pickup truck. The escapee was identified as 36-year-old Christine Abel.The Racine County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a break-in at a home 2 miles away from the prison at around 9:30 p.m. Someone stole a 2007 black GM Sierra pickup with a registration plate of MZ1698. An hour later, the prison reported Abel missing during a head count.  522

Opinion polls are showing a slight lead for Biden in Pennsylvania, and the state could end up being the keystone to reaching 270 Electoral College votes.Obama delivered a fiery rebuke of President Donald Trump, going after his leadership amid the coroanvirus pandemic, and his plans to eliminate the Affordable Care Act. "Where is this great plan to replace Obamacare? They’ve had 10 years to do it. There is no plan," Obama said. Pennsylvania played an important role in 2016 in sending Trump to the White House; Trump won the state by .6%. Trump was the first Republican presidential candidate to win the state since 1988, but the state has been hotly contested in tight elections. In 2004, John Kerry won Pennsylvania by just 2%, while Al Gore won the state by 4% in 2000.The former president had approval ratings well above those of Biden and Trump when he left office. In January 2017, Obama had a 59% approval rating nationally, according to Gallup. A year later, Gallup conducted a retrospective job approval rating, which gave him a 63% approval rating. There's growing concern among parents that the pandemic will impact development for their kids.“It hasn't just been COVID, right? We've learned, you know, our youngest children have learned to fear other human beings,” said Dr. Kathryn Hirsh-Pasek, Director of Temple University’s Infant Language Laboratory.Hirsh-Pasek is a professor of psychology and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. She describes the current environment as a “social hurricane.”Toddlers can't interact with each other and they pick up on the fear that their parents may have.“We may think that we hide all of this from our children, but a lot of times we don't,” said Hirsh-Pasek.She thinks most toddlers will recover in their developmental process. Eventually, they'll be back on playgrounds or in schools, learning and socializing with other kids and adults.But kids from families that have been more seriously impacted by the pandemic may struggle more, especially kids whose parents lost their jobs or who come from underserved communities that have been hit harder by the virus.“There will be some gaps they need to overcome, and I think we need to be prepared with mental professional to, to help all those children thrive,” said Hirsh-Pasek.As Hirsh-Pasek points out, history has taught us most kids are resilient. This weekend marks the official astronomical beginning of summer, and it will also feature a solar eclipse creating a rare “ring of fire”. Set your alarm and watch this unique event online.Around 2:30 a.m. EDT on Sunday, the moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, causing an annular solar eclipse to be seen from parts of Africa, southern Europe and Asia.Given the orbital position of the Moon and Earth right now, the eclipse at its peak will show a bright ring of light around the moon, which some call a “ring of fire”. The Latin word “annulus” means ring, this is why it is called an annular solar eclipse when there is a ring of sunlight around the moon.The best viewing for this astronomical event will be along a narrow strip from Africa through India to the Pacific Ocean.
