SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are looking for the thief who committed a brazen robbery at a South Park metaphysical shop, stealing a ,000 crystal ball in broad daylight in front of store staff and other customers. The theft occurred Monday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. at Crystal Blue Vibrations, San Diego Police said. "This was a lot worse than we thought," co-owner Andrew Lucas told 10News. "That's when we went to the video tape and it showed everything."The thief could be seen casually walking through the store, chatting with an employee behind the counter. He then walked over to the front display, which included several large crystal spheres. He reached in to grab an expensive one, but knocked over a shelf, leaving shattered glass all over and drawing the attention of the employee. However, it appears the employee did not realize the man was attempting to steal the item. While the employee was focused on cleaning up the mess, the the thief can be seen grabbing the crystal ball, placing it on the ground, dribbling it like a soccer ball to the front door, then bending over to pick it up and walk out. "I thought I'd seen it all," Lucas said. "Yeah, it's pretty brazen. It's heartbreaking."Lucas says he plans to limit how much access customers have to certain items in the future. "And more security, but I guess that's what the world is coming to."A police report has been filed. Lucas hopes someone may recognize the thief from the surveillance video and will come forward to identify him. 1513

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Once election results start to come in, some of the races could be so close to call that they could lead to legal battles in court. Eugene Volokh, a constitutional law professor at UCLA, explained that it is likely some races could be so close that we won't know the results for a few days, maybe even weeks. When it comes to the presidential race, Volokh said that if the results are a landslide, the likelihood of legal challenges are close to none. If it's a tight race, Volokh said we could see litigation in states where it is just too close to call. Recounts are also possible, but the professor said that it wouldn't be a national recount; instead, it would only focus on the states that have tight races. Across the country, there have already been some legal battles. In Houston, a federal judge refused to invalidate nearly 127,000 drive-thru mail-in ballots following a lawsuit filed by a group of Republicans. In Nevada, a judge rejected another GOP lawsuit aiming to stop early voting over signature-matching software and observers when votes are being counted. If there is need for legal action, in any of the races, Volokh said it would likely be resolved in a couple of weeks. 1221

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles has announced he will retire from football at the end of the 2019 season, the Eagles announced Saturday.Sproles spent 15 years in the NFL, racking up 3,552 career rushing yards, 4,840 receiving yards, and 55 total touchdowns. He was a three-time Pro Bowl running back and spend six seasons in San Diego with the Chargers before heading to the New Orleans Saints and lastly Philadelphia. The 36-year-old Sproles told reporters he's at peace with his decision to retire. He's been battling injury with a torn right hip flexor muscle and will not play Sunday in the Eagles' divisional match-up with the Dallas Cowboys.RELATED: San Diego Padres infielder Ian Kinsler to retire from MLB"To Eagles fans everywhere, I want to thank you for the way you supported me every single day. I could feel it. You made my time here special," Sproles wrote on the team's website. "I remember when I was first traded to the Eagles. It was a shock because it came out of the blue, but it turned into a blessing. I get chills thinking about all of the amazing memories from my time here. Playing at our stadium is like playing in front of your family."With the Eagles, Sproles put together his three Pro Bowl seasons in 2014, 2015, and 2016. During his six seasons with the team he would rush for 1,331 yards and find another 1,459 yards receiving. His five seasons with the Chargers saw just as much production, with 1,154 rushing yards and 1,400 receiving yards and a healthy 4.6 yards per carry average.Looking back at his time with the Chargers, Sproles thanked the team for giving him a chance to play in 2005."Looking back on my career, I think about the time I stood on the stage inside the RCA Dome getting measured for coaches and scouts at the 2005 NFL Scouting Combine. When my height and weight were announced, I could hear laughing from the audience," Sproles wrote. "I've always been short, it's not the first time I've been made fun of for it, but I started worrying that I might not get picked because of my size. I just needed one team to take a chance on me and I'm thankful for the Chargers." 2163
