One person is dead and seven others injured following a vehicle crash involving an Ypsilanti school bus on eastbound I-94 Tuesday morning.The accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Pittsfield Township Fire Department, Ann Arbor Fire Department and Michigan State Police responded to the scene after a SUV rear-ended a disabled Ypsilanti school bus at the eastbound I-94 exit.The bus was being provided tow assistance for a flat tire. There were no students on the bus at the time, according to the Ypsilanti School District.Police report that the driver of the vehicle, including three infants inside, were trapped after crashing into the school bus.The three children were transported to the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital in serious condition. Two people were transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in critical condition, and the tow truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was reportedly at the rear of the bus when the accident happened. According to a release, there were also two additional 'walking wounded' injuries caused from the crash.     1144

Ohio State University found itself mired in another scandal when the school placed its revered head football coach Urban Meyer on paid leave this week after a longtime assistant coach was fired amid spousal abuse allegations.The school is investigating what Meyer knew about the alleged abuse by former wide receivers coach Zach Smith, who was terminated on July 23, days after he was served with a protection order involving his ex-wife, Courtney Smith.She told the Stadium sports network that her ex-husband had abused her, starting in 2009. Meyer's wife, Shelley, was made aware of the allegations, and said she would speak to her husband, Courtney Smith told the network. But Smith did not follow up to see whether Urban Meyer had been told. OCEANSIDE (KGTV) - A full-page ad published in the Sunday Union-Tribune is creating waves in the effort to save San Diego beaches. Save Oceanside Sand is a North County group who started about three months ago to help protect the beaches in Oceanside after decades of erosion. Co-founder Dirk Ackema tells 10News, “When that ad came out in the Sunday paper we were so excited, so surprised, so curious.” We did some digging and found out Christie Walton posted the ad. Not only is she an avid surfer and San Diego resident, she is the daughter-in-law to the founders of Walmart. Both Walton and Save Oceanside Sand have similar perspectives when it comes to saving the sand. They believe in installing jetties and backfill beaches to protect the sand. In the ad, Walton talks about the current dredging method as not being a long term solution for San Diego Coast. The installation of jetties and groins to protect coastlines has been used around the world. Walton even looks to the specific groin used in Hawaii as an option to be used here in San Diego. Save Oceanside Sand has grown traction throughout the community over the past few months and are looking to expand further now knowing Walton could be a major ally. 1229
