LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Actor Danny Masterson has been charged with forcibly raping three women in separate incidents between 2001 and 2003.Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced Wednesday that Masterson is being charged with three counts of rape by force or fear.The “That '70s Show” actor, now 44, is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman between January and December 2001, according to the district attorney’s office.In April 2003, Masterson allegedly raped a 28-year-old woman.And sometime between October and December of 2003, he is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman who he had invited to his Hollywood Hills home.Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller of the Sex Crimes Division, who is prosecuting the case, said all of the alleged crimes occurred at the defendant’s home.Masterson’s arraignment is scheduled for September 18.If convicted as charged, Masterson faces a possible maximum sentence of 45 years to life in state prison.The district attorney’s office says it declined to file sexual assault charges against Masterson in two other cases, one for insufficient evidence and the other based upon the statute of limitations for the crime alleged.The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division. 1295

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- An organizer of a Southern California demonstration against racism has been jailed on suspicion of attempted murder after authorities say she drove through a crowd and struck two counterprotesters.Tatiana Turner was behind bars Sunday after speeding from a Yorba Linda parking lot when her car was surrounded by shouting counterprotesters who had been among demonstrators ordered by police to leave the area.Anthony Bryson, who helped Turner plan the event, said an angry mob surrounded her car and she fled because she feared for her life.Authorities say a man and woman hospitalized were expected to survive. 638

LOS ANGELES (AP) — It's not exactly the last straw but Los Angeles has ordered restaurants to stop providing the disposable plastic kind unless customers ask for them.The City Council on Friday unanimously passed an ordinance barring restaurants and food trucks from offering plastic straws to customers, even those taking food to go.Drive-through and delivery places can offer the straws but can't automatically provide them.RELATED: San Diego ban on Styrofoam, single-use plastics takes effectFor businesses with 26 employees or more, the law takes effect on April 22, which is Earth Day. LOS ANGELES — The U.S. Forest Service says a firefighter died battling a wildfire in the San Bernardino National Forest in California. The agency says in a news release that the death occurred Thursday as crews battled the El Dorado Fire. The name of the firefighter is being withheld until family members are notified.The El Dorado Fire was sparked on Sept. 5 by a pyrotechnic device used during a gender reveal party. According to a press release from Cal Fire, "those responsible for starting fires due to negligence or illegal activity can be held financially and criminally responsible.” Thursday's death marked at least the 36th death in a series of wildfires that have ravaged the West Coast dating back to mid-August. It's the first death recorded in Southern California — previous wildfire-related deaths had occurred in Northern California, Oregon and Washington state. 888

LOS ANGELES -- Fire crews are on scene after a small brush fire broke out in a Los Angeles neighborhood Wednesday night. The fire broke out just before 6:30 p.m. in Pacific Palisades.
