BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's exchange rate regulator said Tuesday it would work to promote balance of payment next year by stabilizing exports while expanding imports.     The promotion of balance of payment should be the fundamental of the work in 2010 in order to safeguard the nation's economic and financial security, said Yi Gang, head of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE).     He said SAFE would continue to diversify the investment of foreign reserves, and ensure the safety, liquidity and the value of the mounting assets, which have ballooned to more than 2 trillion U.S. dollars.     The authority would also step up supervision of the cross-border money flow to protect national financial safety, he said.     Yi also noted SAFE would seek chances to push forward reforms in key areas and links of the foreign exchange management but didn't elaborate.

BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- China has tightened settlement and sale of foreign exchange by individuals to curb non-normal cross-border capital inflow, according to a statement of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE).     Banks should deny, review or report to foreign exchange regulators, individual purchases or settlements of foreign exchange suspicious of splitting up one deal into several smaller ones to dodge limits on the size of exchange transfer by one person, which is understood to be one of the channels for hot money inflow, said the statement on Wednesday.     Practices including one overseas individual or institution remitting foreign exchange to five or more individuals within China who settle them respectively, or five or more individuals buying foreign exchange and remitting them to one and the same overseas individual or institution, on a single day, every other day or consecutive days, are considered exchange splitting behavior, said the SAFE.     China in 2007 set the limit of up to 50,000 U.S. dollars per year for an individual to exchange between yuan and foreign exchange.

BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao's state visits to Malaysia and Singapore and his attendance at the 17th Economic Leaders Meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum on Nov. 10-15 was fruitful and achieved great success, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Sunday.     Yang, who was accompanying the Chinese president during the tour, told Chinese reporters that Hu's visit was made against the backdrop of a steady global economy that is improving for the better and of the profoundly changing regional situation.     It was an important diplomatic move aimed at deepening good-neighborly relations, promoting cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and joining efforts with the countries in the region to tackle crises and meet challenges.     During the six days, President Hu attended more than 30 multilateral or bilateral events, including meetings with leaders of Malaysia and Singapore, having extensive contacts with people from various walks of life and delivering important speeches at the APEC meeting.     Local and international media gave prominent, objective and positive coverage to Hu's visits. motherland.     The advance of the great cause of "one country, two systems" calls for the joint efforts of the central government, the governments of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR as well as people of all circles, the president noted.     The central government will remain firmly committed to the principles of "one country, two systems", "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong", "Macao people governing Macao" with a high degree of autonomy.     The central government will continue to act in strict accordance with the basic laws of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR and give full support to the chief executives and governments of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR in their governance according to law, he said.     The president pledged that all policies adopted by the central government on
