BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said here Thursday that China will join hands with Cuba to strengthen cooperation and promote bilateral relations.Xi made the remarks when meeting with Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, who was here to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cuba relations.Extending the greetings of China's leadership to President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro Ruz and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Fidel Castro Ruz, Xi thanked Cabrisas for coming to China to attend the 50th anniversary celebrations.Xi reviewed the history of China-Cuba relations. "The two parties and countries have always had mutual understanding and supported each other since the establishment of ties. PODGORICA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), arrived in Podgorica on Thursday for a three-day official goodwill visit to Montenegro.Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, said in a statement issued upon his arrival that he hopes his visit will bring bilateral relations between China and Montenegro to a higher level."I am looking forward to holding in-depth discussions with Montenegrin leaders during the visit on major international and regional issues," he said. Li Changchun (R, front), a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), visits Tallinn University of Technology in Tallinn, Estonia, on Sept. 23, 2010.He added he hopes the visit will help further strengthen friendship, boost mutual trust, deepen cooperation and realize common development between the two sides.During his stay in Montenegro, Li will meet with the prime minister and the parliament speaker of Montenegro.The two sides are expected to sign a number of agreements covering economic and technology cooperation.Montenegro was the second leg of Li's four-nation tour which will also take him to Ireland and Iran. HANOI, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- A trade fair was held in Vietnam's capital city of Hanoi on Saturday with participation of companies from Vietnam and China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.At the fair, more than 100 companies from China's Guangxi brought here nearly 200 projects in various sectors including resources development, agriculture products processing, agricultural machinery production, sugar production and high technology.Ma Biao, chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said at the fair that Guangxi and Vietnam have seen strengthened trade and economic links in recent years.Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trade partner for eleven years, said Ma. Vietnam is also a major destination for Guangxi's outbound investment.Ma said he is confident that cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnam will be further expanded and enriched in the coming time.A total of 64 cooperation agreements were inked at the fair, with the estimated value of 1.96 billion U.S. dollars.The trade fair is part of the activities held during Ma's six- day visit in Vietnam. BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China on Tuesday vowed to enhance coordination with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to continuously push forward the reform of the global economic and financial systems. "Currently the world economy is recovering slowly, but the outlook still remains uncertain," Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said while meeting with visiting IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn in Beijing.To completely get over the global financial crisis and realize sustainable development requires the international community to follow a path for mutual benefits and common development, face up to what caused the financial crisis and step up reform of the global economic and financial systems, he added.Praising China's counter measures against the crisis as "correct", Strauss-Kahn said the IMF values China's position and role and would like to build closer ties with the country.He called on countries to help one another to consolidate the growth momentum of the world economy.In an earlier meeting with Strauss-Kahn, Vice Premier Wang Qishan urged timely adjustments to global economic rules and standards to keep pace with the development of the global economy."The developing countries and emerging economies should have more say in the process," he added.He said the international community should work closely to ensure a success of the upcoming G20 Seoul Summit.In response, Strauss-Kahn said the IMF would continue to strengthen cooperation with China and increase the country's representation and voice in the organization.

BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese leaders on Wednesday met with visiting Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and discussed advancing bilateral relations.Wu Bangguo, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, the country's top legislature, said China and Italy both faced severe challenges and new opportunities as the international situation was undergoing profound changes.As the two countries shared a wide range of common interests, Wu said, it was in the fundamental interests of both peoples to develop China-Italy ties, which also worked for world peace and development.As this year saw the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, the two countries should maintain exchanges and dialogues at all levels, take care of each other's major concerns and deepen political trust, Wu said.Wu proposed all-round trade and economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of environment, science and technology, small and medium-sized businesses.Wu called on the two countries to step up communication and coordination under the China-EU and Asia-Europe frameworks and the international organizations like the United Nations and Group 20 in a bid to build a fair and reasonable international political and economic system.Napolitano, on his first visit to China as Italian head of state, said Italy appreciated China's remarkable economic and social development.The 85-year-old underscored Italy's commitment to developing ties with China, saying Italy and Europe could not develop without building closer links with China.Napolitano said Italy would take care of China's major concerns, enhance trade and economic cooperation and expand exchanges of visits.
