SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Port of San Diego is kicking off another season of Waterfront Summer service.The service, which is now in its seventh season, provides transportation along the waterfront for per day.The shuttle, provided by the Port, will connect visitors and residents to businesses and attractions along the waterfront.According to the Port, the shuttle runs on a loop every 20 minutes from the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island to Harbor Drive Bridge with several stops in between.The shuttle will run every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the summer season. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The widow of a fallen firefighter is opening up about giving birth without the love of her life by her side.Cal Fire Firefighter Engineer Cory Iverson died battling the Thomas Fire in Ventura County in December.His wife, Ashley, was pregnant with their second daughter at the time. Taylor Ivy Frances Iverson was born just a few weeks ago."She looks just like this little twin, especially right after she came out it was a big relief to have her out and to see him again and feel like I was looking into his eyes again," said Ashley.It's been five months since Cory died, but Ashley said it still doesn't seem real. "People will say to me, I can't possibly imagine going through that, and my response is neither can I, cause it really doesn't feel like it's me going through all of this," said Ashley.She was surrounded by family and friends in the hospital the day Taylor was born, but it was the voicemail she played from her late husband while in the delivery room that helped her get through labor."All the doctors were crying, but it just flipped right then and there. It's the most special voice mail I have from him basically talking about how special our relationship is and how grateful he is for us," said Ashley.Ashley wants to honor Cory's memory by starting a foundation to help first responders deal with the trauma they see on the job."The things that they see and experience are things that the human brain can't just push out, it needs to be worked through," said Ashley.As heartbroken as she is, she's always thinking about the men and women who were on the fire lines with Cory the day he died."Through trust and communication, these men and women can heal," said Ashley. Even in her darkest moments, she is overwhelmed with gratitude."My hope is that people out there hold on to whatever faith that they have because through any struggle with your faith and gratitude, it will get you through." 1942

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The relatives of a toddler who died from E. Coli he contracted from San Diego County Fair animals held a fundraiser for his parents Saturday night. The benefit to help the family of 2-year-old Jedidiah King Cabezuela started at 4 p.m. at Rosie O’Grady’s restaurant in Normal Heights. Jedidiah’s great uncle Ed Sanford told 10News the boy suffered stomach problems four days after visiting the fair despite washing his hands after visiting the petting zoo. Over the next three days, Jedidiah was in and out of the emergency room before the symptoms worsened. His kidneys began failing, and he died June 24. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The number of 16-24 year olds looking for jobs is rising across the country, almost getting back to the level it was at before the recession.According to numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20.89 million teens and young adults had jobs in the summer of 2017. That made it the 7th straight year of employment growth in that industry.Similarly, the unemployment rate for people aged 16-24 fell for the 7th straight year. It was at 9.6%, the lowest it had been since 2000. While there still aren't as many teens and young adults working as there was in the 1950's, 60's and 70's, it's a sign that more are looking for, and finding jobs."I'm Saving for a Car"Like many of his peers, Coronado High School Junior Quinn Perez plans to work this summer. He already has a job lined up at Holland's Bicycles."I've worked there for about 2 years now and I've worked my wya up to one of the manager positions," Quinn says.His goal is simple, to save enough for a car."I've always been a fan of Camaros," he says, before adding, "But I'll probably go for a Honda or Jetta or something like that. A little more in my price range."Other students just like having their own money to spend, like Anna Hinz, who is still looking for a job for the summer."It makes me feel like I have a little control over everything I do, rather than my parents making plans for me.""It's all about the attitude"But for the people who do the hiring, why you're working can be as big of an indicator of success as anything.Patti Woods is the Talent Acquisition Supervisor for the YMCA. She oversees hiring of around 1,500 teens and young adults each summer to work as counselors and lifeguards.She says your attitude is as important as anything else."Skills can be learned," she says. "I want people who are positive, flexible and willing to take feedback."Woods advises teens and young adults to start their job search early. The YMCA does most of their summer hiring in the spring, because they have thousands of applicants to consider."Don't think you need to wait for the summer to find a summer job," she says. If you wait for summer, a lot of those jobs will be gone already."Woods says the Y still has some open positions. Other fields, like retail and restaurants still have lots of openings as well. A recent search of sites like jobs.com and Monster.com for the keywords "Teen Jobs, San Diego" turned up hundreds of jobs.
