SAN DIEGO (CNS) - At least one person was seriously injured this morning in a crash that may have involved an alcohol-impaired driver, the California Highway Patrol said.A car reportedly rolled over and caught fire about 3:44 a.m. on southbound state Route 15 near state Route 94, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log. Moments later, dispatchers were told the car appeared to have exploded.The fire-damaged car was then struck by another car, according to the incident log. A third vehicle was also involved in the crash, though details were scant.At least one person was left with serious injuries. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who allegedly gunned down another man during an altercation in Lincoln Park pleaded not guilty today to a murder charge. Michael Ortiz, 31, is accused in the Nov. 7 killing of 25-year-old Eziquio Ruiz-Saucedo of National City. Ortiz faces 50 years to life in state prison if convicted of murder and an allegation of discharging a firearm in the killing.Police received reports just after 9 that night of gunshots fired in the parking lot of a shopping center at 300 Euclid Avenue, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said. According to the lieutenant, the men were involved in a physical fight and at some point, a handgun was brandished and both men were shot.At Ortiz's arraignment, Deputy District Attorney Jeff Dort alleged that Ortiz brought a gun to ``what was probably going to be a fistfight.'' SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman was injured illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, a Border Patrol official said Saturday.The woman, a Guatemalan citizen, had one child with her whose age was not disclosed, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Eduardo Olmos said.Agents found her and the child around 8:25 p.m. Friday in an area east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A La Jolla restaurant owner raped eight women who he either drugged or knew were too intoxicated to consent to sex, a prosecutor said Tuesday, while a defense attorney argued none of the charged sex acts were forced upon the alleged victims, nor was there any evidence that any of the women were drugged.Jurors on Tuesday began deliberating the fate of Daniel Dorado, who is charged with 35 felonies, including rape of an unconscious person and rape of an intoxicated person.
