But the 14th amendment clearly states that those born on US soil are citizens at birth."All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside," the amendment reads.Similar controversies have transpired when Sens. John McCain and Ted Cruz ran for president. Both were US citizens at birth, but were not born on US soil. Harris was born to two immigrant parents, a Jamaican father and Indian mother. According to his official college biography, Harris’ father Donald J. Harris was born a Jamaican citizen but has naturalized as an American citizen. Donald J. Harris is a professor emeritus at Stanford.According to her official obituary, the senator’s mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who died in 2009, came to the United States as a teenager and began participating in the Civil Rights Movement. The Tampa Police Department is searching for a young man who was caught on camera doing a skateboard trick across a custom-painted car in Ybor City.A spokesperson for the police department said the case is being investigated as a felony criminal mischief. Detectives would like to speak with Dalton Newbury as a person of interest. According to those who have shared the video that's getting thousands of shares on Facebook, it was originally posted to Instagram by the skateboarder himself. The U.S. Marine Corps says it has lifted a "shelter-in-place" order at the Air Ground Combat Center (AGCC) in Twentynine Palms, California following earlier reports of an "active shooter."According to a statement from the Marines, the order was enacted when an "individual" suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the base at about 8:30 a.m. PT. No other injuries were reported. The person who fired the gun has been transported to a local medical center for treatment.The Marines say they are investigating.Shortly after 8:30 a.m., the Marines tweeted that they were "aware of reports" of an active shooter at the AGCC. Later, both KESQ-TV in Palm Springs, California and KTTV-TV in Los Angeles reported — citing a base spokesperson — that a suspect had been taken into custody and that there were no reports of injuries. The Marines later disputed those reports, saying that it could not confirm that a suspect was in custody.The base is located about an hour's drive northwest of Palm Springs. 1008

The RV industry has seen a significant increase in rentals and sales over the summer. One company, RVshare, reported more than a 1,000% increase in rentals.Now, the trend seems to be moving beyond just a summer vacation alternative. Some are turning to it as a new way to home-school and work during this pandemic.Some families are turning these RVs into their primary or secondary homes."I think it is difficult for families to be cooped up," said Julie Partridge.Partridge was already considering making the switch to RV life before the pandemic, but after five months of social distancing and quarantining in her home, she decided to finally do it.She sold the family home and hit the road to live, home-school her kids and work from an RV."Obviously our camper is much smaller than our house,” said Partridge. “Substantially smaller, but you have this vast open world available to you. You feel less cooped up in this camper than you do in this 3,000 square foot house."She also feels the move to full-time RV life this fall will also give her kids a unique educational opportunity."We really want to see the national parks,” said Partridge. “I want my kids to do the park ranger program. I want to use that as their science and social studies curriculum from the road. So, we are really excited about those parts."The Partridge family is just one of many either committing to or newly considering RV life in the fall, according to a survey done by the RV rental company RVshare."We have, from our survey, seen that over 30% of people are considering homeschooling from the road and over 40% of people are considering working from the road and that is something that is new to the industry," RVshare Jon Gray."You have school not opening on time, you have a lot of employers turning to work from anywhere models for the extended future and those things have made it to where RVs are appealing deep into the fall," said Gray.The pandemic has changed so much in our lives. Many people are looking to get away from the uncertainty and continued concern with it.
