Nursing homes and long-term care facilities need more personal protective equipment (PPE) than they did at the start of the pandemic.“If a home doesn't have at least a week's worth, that's a problem. It's regarded as a critical shortage and the reason why is because if you have an outbreak, you can start chewing through your existing supplies like that,” said Teresa Murray, a consumer watchdog at the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG).The group looked at data from facilities sent to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. They found one in five were dangerously low on one or more items, like gloves and hand sanitizer. Almost half didn't have a one-week supply of at least one type of PPE.“And they say that it's not unusual at all for nurses to use masks for like five days,” said Murray. “If they even have gowns, they're reusing them.”U.S. PIRG says these facilities couldn't compete with demand for supply.The Medical Supply Transparency and Delivery Act, which is sitting in Congress, would help stabilize prices. And the Defense Production Act could be used to increase U.S. production of PPE.“And not only does it affect the residents that are in that home. It affects the workers who, guess what, they go home, they go home to their families,” said Rowan. “They go home, to their grocery stores and to their churches. And their kids go to school. And so, this is, I mean, it's no surprise that this is why we're seeing some of these community outbreaks because of one case that starts in a nursing home.”When the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid said the data was accurate, U.S. PIRG says they were referred to FEMA for a solution plan. OLATHE, Kan. — Court documents released Monday say a Johnson County, Kansas mom was nearly successful in killing at least two of her children last month.Therese Roever faces three counts of attempted capital murder for allegedly drugging her three children on February 19.It wasn’t until her ex-husband arrived to pick up the kids that anyone knew something was wrong.Court documents indicate the ex-husband tried to get into the house for more than an hour but Roever did not open the door or answer the phone.When Roever finally let the ex-husband inside, he found his ex-wife “drugged and groggy.”First responders arrived to find the couple’s 7-year-old daughter on a bed not responding. Their 5-year-old initially got up from the bed but then stumbled to the ground. A third child, 7, was found in the bathroom crying.While the kids were en-route to the hospital, paramedics used Narcan – a drug commonly used to reduce the symptoms of opioid overdose – on two of the kids.Doctors told investigators that had police not arrived when they did, two of the children would have died.Roever remains in the Johnson County Jail on a million bond. She’s scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary hearing on April 20. 1259

The tournaments and leagues are often hosted by video game studios — EA Sports, the maker of Madden NFL 19, was hosting the tournament in Jacksonville on Sunday. Early eSports tournaments focused on niche games and attracted mainly hard-core gamers as spectators, but that didn't stop spectators from turning out in droves. eSports has sold out arenas in China, Japan and even in the US as spectators watched the best of the best play games like World of Warcraft, League of Legends and Overwatch.But in the past few years, eSports has been going mainstream.In 2018, the NBA launched the NBA 2K League — a season-long competition featuring gamers playing an NBA video game for teams affiliated with actual NBA franchises. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A man was taken into custody in Oceanside on Monday morning after police say he broke into a short-term rental and sexually assaulted a woman. The sexual assault happened around 4 a.m. on the 800 block of South Pacific Street. According to police, Kwahmell Archer entered the home through an unlocked front door. Oceanside Police said there were 20 people inside the three-story rental when the suspect walked into a closet, got undressed and entered a sleeping woman’s bedroom. The 49-year-old woman woke up and screamed when the man grabbed her, waking up the rest of the house. Police said the suspect then ran back into the closet and was pinned inside by other people inside the house. Police arrived and took the man into custody. 773

On Monday, social media website Reddit banned r/The_Donald, a subreddit devoted to discussing President Donald Trump, as a part of a purge of more than 2,000 groups on the site that were in violation of the social media site's rules, according to The New York Times and The Verge.The move marks a stark change in Reddit policy. Previously, Reddit has allowed groups and individuals more leeway when censoring content on the site.Launched in 2015 along with Trump's presidential campaign, r/The_Donald grew to nearly 800,000 members before it was removed from Reddit. While the group did not have any affiliation with Trump or the Trump campaign, the then-Republican nominee participated in an "Ask Me Anything" discussion in the group during the 2016 presidential campaign.The group has become known for a breeding ground for conspiracy theories. According to reports, the group helped propel the "Pizzagate" theory that led to the arrest of an armed man at a D.C.-area pizza restaurant shortly after the 2016 election. It also routinely hosted Islamophobic discussions and promoted other content many considered to be racist.According to a disclaimer, Reddit says r/The_Donald was banned violating Rules 1 (harassment, threats of violence), 2 (spamming, vote manipulation) and 8 (don't break the site or do anything that interferes with the normal use of Reddit).Reddit had previously taken steps to curtail r/The_Donald. In June 2019, the network "quarantined" the site, meaning that the subreddit would not show up in search results and could not appear on the site's front page. In addition, anyone attempting to visit the forum would be met with a warning screen.The move comes about three weeks after Reddit published a blog post outlining changes to the social network's policies.
