Actor Kevin Spacey, who is facing mounting allegations of sexual harassment and assault, will no longer appear in Ridley Scott's forthcoming drama, "All the Money in the World," two sources close to the film confirm to CNN.Christopher Plummer will take over Spacey's role in the film, which despite the last-minute change, is still set for release on December 22.The decision, a source told CNN, was made by Scott and producers from Imperative Entertainment, with the full support of Sony Pictures.Imperative Entertainment and Scott Free Productions produced the film for Sony and its TriStar Pictures banner. 617

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKBW) — The New York State United Teachers are holding a press conference on Thursday calling for a strengthened statewide mask mandate in schools, which includes masks to be worn at all times in school. The teachers union says it will release a letter to the state Department of Health calling for revised school reopening guidance.“The governor has said — and we agree — that parents and educators must be confident in their school district’s reopening plan in order for this to work,” NYSUT President Andy Pallotta said. “As we hear of disparate mask procedures and other issues in reopening plans across the state, it’s clear that the state must step in. Making masks mandatory at all times is one step toward helping address the reservations that still exist regarding reopening school buildings.”The union says the only time masks are not needed are for appropriate break periods and in cases of medical accommodation. This story originally reported by Paul Ross on WKBW.com. 1002

A woman died of COVID-19 while aboard a Spirit Airlines flight between Las Vegas and Dallas earlier this year, according to USA Today and The Washington Post.According to USA Today, the July 24 flight was diverted to Albuquerque, New Mexico after a member of the flight crew reported that the woman was unresponsive. The woman was pronounced dead on arrival.News of the woman's death was announced Sunday by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins while giving an update about the virus. Jenkins noted that the woman, who was in her 30s, had underlying health conditions.A spokesperson told USA Today that officials at the Albuquerque International Sunport did not learn until later that the woman had been infected with COVID-19, and treated the emergency as they would any other health emergency.A spokesperson for Spirit Airlines told The Washington Post that the airline has offered condolences to the woman's family and that it is confident in its procedures in dealing with the virus.“Our Flight Attendants have in-depth training to respond to medical emergencies and utilize several resources, including communicating with our designated on-call medical professionals on the ground, using onboard medical kits and personal protective equipment, and receiving assistance from credentialed medical personnel traveling on the flight,” Spirit Airlines told The Washington Post. 1381

According to data from the CDC, 94 percent of people who die while having COVID-19 also have other health concerns contributing to their deaths. This leads to death certificates that state both conditions; for example, listing both COVID-19 and diabetes, or COVID-19 and heart disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published their latest COVID-19 data update last week. It said that roughly 6 percent of those who died while having COVID-19, the virus “was the only cause mentioned” as a cause of death. This signifies the role that contributing conditions play in how severe COVID-19 can be.Over the weekend, Twitter removed a tweet that had been retweeted by President Donald Trump for violating Twitter’s rules. The tweet said, incorrectly, that the CDC had updated their numbers to “admit that only 6%” of the country’s coronavirus deaths “actually died from COVID,” according to CNN.Other social media posts with similar language are still posted.Roughly 183,000 Americans have died after contracting COVID-19. The CDC’s data, found here, looked at death certificates, which can lag behind raw death numbers from hospitals and states. While people can live with other health concerns, like heart disease, obesity and respiratory issues, having underlying health conditions and then contracting COVID-19 can increase a person’s chances of becoming severely ill, or die.CDC’s data shows “on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per (COVID-19) death.”The top comorbidities, or underlying medical conditions in a COVID-19 death include:Influenza and pneumoniaRespiratory failureHypertensive diseaseDiabetesVascular and unspecified dementiaCardiac arrestHeart failureRenal failureIntentional and unintentional injury, poisoning and other adverse events 1795

A website tracking early voting numbers reports more than 23,500,000 votes have been cast in the 2020 presidential election as of Friday night. The US Election Project, run by Professor Michael McDonald at the University of Florida for the last few elections, is keeping track of early voting, mail-in and absentee ballot data states make available. The details of those ballots are not shared, these are just the raw numbers of how many ballots have been cast. The site is also tracking each state’s ballots cast as compared to the entire number of votes counted in the 2016 election. For the country as a whole, the more than 23.5 million ballots cast is about 17 percent of the total number of votes in the 2016 election. Some states appear to be on track to potentially reach their 2016 voter turnout number, or get very close, before the election. In Vermont, more than 136,000 ballots have been cast, that’s more than 42 percent of the total number of ballots cast in the 2016 election. In Texas, early voting started Tuesday and already more than 2,647,000 ballots have been cast. That’s almost 30 percent of the total number of ballots cast in 2016.Professor McDonald does track about a dozen states that report party affiliation of the ballots returned. Those numbers show a higher number of Democrats have returned their ballots compared to those identified as Republican. However, there is no way to tell who those ballots voted for exactly, and history shows Democrats typically have higher numbers of mail-in ballots, according to McDonald. 1557
