SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego woman is among those killed in the Conception boat fire off Santa Cruz Island, her coworkers in Coronado told 10News Tuesday. A manager at Nicky Rottens restaurant at 100 Orange Ave. identified Nicole Quitasol as one of the victims of the deadly fire. Quitasol was on the dive trip with four relatives, her coworkers posted on Facebook. "Nicole has worked with our Nicky Rottens Coronado family for years, and she will be remembered as an adventurous & loving soul," wrote Bryn Butolph, who described Quitasol as smart and loving."She will be greatly missed," Butolph added. He told 10News Quitasol was devoted to her dog, Peanut Butter.The family of five was among 34 people presumed dead in the blaze. All were sleeping below deck when the fire started early Monday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Americans are voting once again, and while the 2020 campaign has been contentious, our political process is a matter of perspective.Iraqi immigrant Saba Yousif became a U.S citizen in 2018, along with her parents and four of her five siblings. Yousif will be voting for the first time.Yousif told ABC 10News anchor Kimberly Hunt that due to the persecution back in Baghdad and not having the freedom to truly make a difference in election, this election -- to her -- is “precious.”The American system is something everyone all over the world admires, according to Yousif.She said as Chaldean Iraqis, her family finally feels true freedom.Even her parents are sharing her joy because they will be voting in their first presidential election here. They’ve all enjoyed having the right to express their opinions, have discussions, hear the candidates’ views, and make a choice at the ballot box.“I feel blessed to be a citizen of this country. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A small coffee shop in Carmel Mountain Ranch is now the world's best coffee roaster.Mostra Coffee just won Roast Magazine's top honor as the 2020 Roaster of the Year."It was a really far fetched, big dream of ours to one day achieve one day," said Mostra Coffee co-founder Jelynn Malone. "So the fact we were able to achieve it in six years is mind-blowing to us."Malone started the company with a few friends in a garage in 4S Ranch. They were looking for ways to help poor people in the Philippines and learned that buying coffee from local farmers can help provide money and jobs to the region."It was rooted in good and wanting to help," said Malone. "We just believed in our mission so much that we thought, you know, let's just go for it. What it's become now is just surreal and amazing."Right now, Mostra Coffee has one shop in Carmel Mountain Ranch, but they have plans to expand. They're opening a second location in 4S Ranch in March and just signed a lease for a spot in Mira Mesa.Malone said their passion for coffee is what's fueled their success."It's very similar to wine," she said. "It'll taste anywhere from peaches to chocolates, to tea leaf flavor notes to blueberry. There are so many different flavor notes you can get out of coffee that I don't think people realize, and you get to do that in specialty coffee."In addition to the new locations, Mostra is expanding into the instant coffee business. They just launched a line of single-serve instant coffee packs."Now you can enjoy Mostra coffee when you're flying or camping or at work or rushing in the morning and don't have time to come into the store," said Malone.Through all the expansion, Malone said they plan to keep the small-batch mentality that brought them this far."The community's been so supportive that I think people will really appreciate having more access to Mostra." 1889

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A water main break in Mira Mesa flooded a music and art studio, filling up rooms full of musical instruments and equipment.The sound of gushing water early Saturday night led to a flood of emotions for musician Anastasya Korol."There is a river rushing in the back ... Shocked and really sad as it started to sink in," said Korol.That night, city officials say water from a break in a 55-year-old, 36-inch steel pipe, flowed into the back of a building in the Via Excelencia Business Park. One of the businesses flooded was the San Diego Music and Art Cooperative, a music and art studio for independent artists. It's used for rehearsal space and classes.Korol says among the seven pianos damaged was the piano she played as a child. "It's upsetting to lose it ... The water goes up through the wood, warps the wood and sound board," said Korol.Also waterlogged: dozens of other instruments, from guitars to violins, along with a long list of sound equipment, artwork and art supplies. Studio founder Mathew Rakers says the total loss is hundreds of thousands of dollars."It's crazy to put years and years of work into something and see it wash away in a matter of hours," said Rakers.Rakers plans to file a claim with the city. Attorney Evan Walker, an expert in flood cases, says such cases could take anywhere from six months to two years to wrap up."You're dealing with a bureaucracy, and when you're dealing with litigation, things tend to get complicated," said Rakers.He says filing with your insurance - if you do have flood insurance - is usually speedier. A delay is something Rakers says his artists can't afford."I'm worried. The biggest loss if the loss of incomes. It will put a lot of people out of work," said Rakers.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help the studio with expenses.If you are filing a claim, you have until six months after the flood to file.
