SAN FRANCISCO (KGTV) -- A boy who became well known after a photo of him hugging a police officer was widely shared on social media is feared dead along with his family after their SUV fell over a cliff, according to the Associated Press.Authorities say 15-year-old Devonte Hart is feared dead after the family’s vehicle fell 100 feet over a cliff along Highway 1 near County Road 430.Tha California Highway Patrol said 19-year-old Markis Hart, 14-year-old Jeremiah Hart and 14-year-old Abigail Hart died along with their parents, Jennifer and Sarah Hart. "We have every indication to believe that all six children were in there," Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allmon said. "We know that an entire family vanished and perished during this tragedy."The California Highway Patrol hasn’t determined why the vehicle went over the cliff into the ocean.Devonte gained fame after a photo of him hugging a police officer went viral. In the photo (pictured below) a Portland officer reportedly saw him holding a “free hugs” sign and crying. (AP) — Pacific Gas and Electric is promising regulators that it has learned from its mishandling of deliberate blackouts and won't disrupt as many people’s lives during the pandemic this year. The utility again expects to rely on outages to prevent its outdated grid from starting deadly fires. The contrite pledge came Thursday during a California Public Utilities Commission hearing. PG&E's chief regulator is trying to avoid a repeat of last autumn's bungled blackouts that inconvenienced and infuriated more than 2 million Northern Californians. SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A father and his two children helped rescue a man who was stranded in the Santa Fe National Forest for 14 days.John Utsey launched an unexpected two-day rescue mission Saturday after hearing a call for help while hiking with his kids toward the Santa Fe Baldy.Utsey gave the man food and water before hiking back to the trailhead to call 911.Santa Fe firefighters arrived within the hour, but called off the unsuccessful search after eight hours.Utsey then returned to the spot Sunday, called 911 again and led crews to the man.Once the man was located, the Santa Fe Fire Department says its crews built a fire to bring up his body temperature, which was dangerously low. They also fed and gave him water.The department says the man suffered from chronic back pain, injured his back while hiking and couldn’t stand or walk.The man told first responders that his gear stolen and ended up getting lost and disoriented.The man is now recovering at a local hospital. 992

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Several people in a San Marcos gated community have reported being targets of package thieves, according to one victim who spoke with 10News. The Sheriff's Department is looking at surveillance video, which appears to provide several leads.Mikayla Manos says a package was sent to her home on Almond Drive Friday.  Manos is a mentor for foster children. The package contained the personal items of one of those children, which she was asked to deliver to him.  When Manos arrived home, she did not see the package.Manos checked with her next-door neighbor, who has a surveillance camera. Video from Friday afternoon shows a girl walking past Manos' home. She turns and points toward Manos' porch and can be heard saying "get it".The video shows what appears to be a boy picking something up from Manos' porch, although the package cannot be clearly seen from the camera angle. At least two voices can be heard off camera. One is heard saying "I can't wait to wear these to school tomorrow." Manos says clothes are among the items stolen.Manos says she knows of at least three other neighbors who were victims.  10News spotted an empty Nordstrom bag ripped open on one neighbor's porch, while another neighbor tells 10News someone stole items from his garage when he briefly left it open around the same time.Several package boxes were found dumped nearby, including Manos'. Some of the foster child's items were recovered, but many remain missing. 1498

SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A victim was rescued following a crash in Santee Wednesday afternoon. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened just after 4:30 at Mission Gorge Road and Cottonwood Avenue. Deputies responded to calls of a car hitting a motorcyclist. The victim was said to be conscious and breathing when they were taken to the hospital.
