DENVER — Sunday was a long day for Kathryn Coogan, who drove around the Highland neighborhood in Denver looking for Rubble, her 4-year old son's therapy dog.Rubble was apparently stolen Saturday night.The Wheat Ridge, Colorado mom had taken the 9-month-old plott hound mix to a restaurant/bar on the 2200 block of West 32nd Avenue, tying his leash to the railing out front, while she went inside to visit with friends."He was wearing a red turtleneck sweater," she said. "He had his little toy and a bone."Coogan said when she came back outside, Rubble was gone."This dog is really, really, really important to my family and my son," she said, while choking back tears. "I have a special needs little boy. He's Rubble's daddy."Coogan said they adopted Rubble when he was three months old."He was found on the side of a road with all his siblings in a box of rocks, which is why his name is Rubble," she said.Coogan said witnesses told her that a man and a woman walked by the restaurant, turned around, came back and asked whose dog that was.  She said they were told that it belonged to someone in the restaurant."They unleashed him," she said, "and started walking toward Tejon Street."Coogan said she can't help but wonder if someone thought the dog shouldn't have been out in the cold."I don't know if he took him, if he dropped him off, if he woke up and realized he stole someone's dog," she said, "or if he's trying to make a point."She said if that's the case, he didn't handle it right."If it's 100 degrees and in the car, hell yeah, break the window," she said, "but we were right here."She's pleading for Rubble's return.Coogan said she spent the day Sunday filing a police report, posting fliers in the neighborhood and searching for Rubble."I just want my dog back," she said. 1837

DETROIT (AP) — Honda is recalling over 1.4 million vehicles in the U.S. to repair a software flaw, drive shafts that can break and window switches that can overheat.The software recall includes 734,000 Accords from 2018 to 2020 and Insights from 2019 and 2020. A computer programming error can cause the rear camera, turn signals and windshield wipers to malfunction.Two drive shaft recalls cover 430,000 Civic Hybrids, Fits and Accords, and the Acura ILX. They’re in 22 states where salt is used to clear roads.About 268,000 CR-Vs from 2002 through 2006 are included in the power window switch recall.Owners will be notified when to take vehicles to dealers. Deputies arrested a Polk City, Florida woman for DUI on a horse in Lakeland on Thursday. Donna Byrne, 53, was riding the horse in the roadway when deputies arrived on scene. Deputies said Byrne smelled like alcohol, had watery bloodshot eyes and was staggering. A field sobriety test was conducted and she was arrested for DUI. Byrne was also charged with animal neglect for failing to provide proper protection to the horse. According to the affidavit, Byrne put the horse in jeopardy of being injured or killed.Byrne blew a .157 and .161 BAC. A breath alcohol level of .08 is the legal limit in Florida. 633

DETROIT, Mich. -- The Detroit Police Department is responding to a video that shows an officer fatally shooting a dog in its own yard.Officers say it happened Aug. 3 on the east side of the Michigan city.The video shows the dog in a yard latching onto a police K-9's snout and not letting go. The officer then drew her weapon and shot the dog, which died from its injuries."It's unfortunate that it came to this. We do not like to see any animal hurt, especially these K-9 officers. They are truly dog lovers and champions for K-9s. But at this point, her dog was being severely injured and had no choice," Commander Darin Szilagy said.Detroit police did internally investigate and cleared the officer of any wrongdoing.That K-9 officer continues to be evaluated and treated for injuries.
