SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The average price for a gallon of gas in San Diego rose again Saturday, increasing a cent and pushing San Diego's average into the region.While consumers have seen pockets of a gallon gas in previous weeks, Saturday marked the first time since 2015 the county's average climbed over .This compares to the state's overall average of .98 a gallon and the national average of .82 a gallon.MAP: To find the best price on gasoline around San Diego CountySan Diego's average gallon of regular gas cost .02 a gallon Saturday, up from .99 on Friday and .77 a week ago. Then, the Valero refinery in the Bay Area shut down due to a scrubber malfunction days later. Two plants in Southern California experienced outages in El Segundo and Wilmington. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The City of San Diego's Development Services division is still investigating the platform that collapsed at a Barrio Logan gym this weekend and injured 21 minors and a few adults. At least one minor is still in the hospital with a broken pelvis, we're told.A city spokesperson reported to 10 News on Tuesday that no further details would be released until the investigation is complete.On Monday, the spokesperson said there were definite code violations and missing permits at Vault PK parkour gym, where the incident happened. Whether the gym will face any penalties is still unknown. The gym has only been open for a few months. On a Facebook post, it appears much of the construction of the facility was done by the owner's immediate family.  On Monday, San Diego Police Department's media relations division confirmed that the incident is a civil matter and the department will not be recommending any criminal charges, including criminal negligence.  There is another Vault PK parkour gym in Torrance. We called the facility today. Someone answered the phone and said the facility is closed for inspections. No further details were given.  1222

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The elderly victim of a brutal home invasion in Clairemont last week is relieved two of the three suspects are in custody. John Slobig, 59 and Terry Jones, 53 are due in court Wednesday afternoon in connection with last Wednesday's home invasion in the 4600 block of Firestone Street.Eighty-seven-year-old Paul Schmidt suffered injuries to his head, arms, and wrist during the attack. "I was very grateful for the work that the police did, " said Schmidt. Schmidt said he's lived in the home for fifty-three years and never felt unsafe. "I know that drugs have been so dominant in our society lately that it's a whole different world that we're living in. Things we used to take for granted, you can't anymore," said Schmidt. Schmidt was installing a ceiling fan when he says three men burst through his front door."All of a sudden, these three guys come in and said this is a robbery and he grabbed scissors and walked up to me and said don't mess with us. I didn't want to die that day, and there was three. I'm one guy, I'm 87, I'm not as tough as I used to be," said Schmidt. He tried to pull one of the intruders by his beard, that's when Schmidt says one of the robbers hit him over the head with a ceiling fan blade."The one guy was higher than a kite; the one they have in custody, he was really a terrible person." Police say the trio ransacked the home and took off in the victim's truck, which was recovered. The suspects have lengthy criminal records. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Navy confirmed Thursday that the suspected Golden State Killer attended and graduated basic training at the Naval Training Center in San Diego.Officials say Joseph DeAngelo, 72, graduated from the training center after attending from October to December of 1964.DeAngelo also served aboard the Boston-class guided-missile cruiser USS Canberra (pictured below) during the Vietnam War.The Naval Training Center closed in 1997 and is now known as Liberty Station. The San Diego's District Attorney is also reexamining cold cases in San Diego that may have links to DeAngelo. TIMELINE: Major events in Golden State killer caseNew information Thursday also helps paint the picture of how authorities were able to catch the man accused of killing at least 12 people and raping at least 45 women.Prosecutors say authorities used genealogical sites to find a DNA match for DeAngelo, according to the Associated Press.Investigators compared the DNA collected from a crime scene of the Golden State killer to online genetic profiles and found a match: A relative of DeAngelo. Investigators didn't go into further detail such as which company they went through. DeAngelo is accused of committing the murders, rapes and more than 120 burglaries in the decade spanning between 1976 and 1986.RELATED: Suspect identified, arrested in East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer caseMost of the crimes happened near Sacramento and in the Bay Area.The Associated Press contributed to this report. 1544

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The landlord at a Rolando apartment complex filed a police report Thursday, concerned an San Diego Gas and Electric employee going door to door at the building was an impostor. A mother at home with her young children got a notice that her bill was overdue and SDG&E planned to shut off the power if she didn't pay, according to Jon, the complex landlord.Residents believed the man, who was wearing a uniform and driving an SDG&E vehicle, did not actually work for the company.None of the tenants gave the man any money, Jon said.SDG&E has information on its website to help customers identify employees: 643
