The FBI said a contract security officer was killed and another injured in a shooting outside the U.S. courthouse in Oakland. Authorities say a vehicle pulled up outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building at about 9:45 p.m. Friday and someone fired at the officers. The officers worked for the Federal Protective Service of the Department of Homeland Security and were protecting the court houses as part of their regular duties. The European Union has hit Google with another big antitrust fine, the third in a series of billion-dollar penalties the US tech giant has faced for hindering competition.The European Commission on Wednesday ordered Google to pay �1.5 billion (.7 billion) for abusing its dominant position in online search advertising."Google has cemented its dominance in online search adverts and shielded itself from competitive pressure by imposing anti-competitive contractual restrictions on third-party websites," Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said in a statement.The tech company has now been fined �8.2 billion (.3 billion) in total by Europe over the past three years.EU regulators have taken a much more robust approach to Big Tech companies than their US counterparts, especially when it comes to competition, data protection and tax issues.Google has already been fined in two previous EU antitrust cases.The Commission ordered the company to pay �4.34 billion (.9 billion) in July 2018 for unfairly pushing its apps on smartphone users and thwarting competitors.In 2017, it imposed a �2.4 billion (.7 billion) fine on Google for using its search engine to steer consumers to its own shopping platform.The company said in a blog post Tuesday that it was making further changes to its service based on "feedback" from the European Commission.It has started testing a new format that provides users with direct links to comparison shopping sites. The Bombacinos and their son, AJ, have learned a lot the past eight years."We were thrown into this world of special needs feeding that we never really expected," mother Julie Bombacino says. When AJ was only 6 months old, he had a 45-minute seizure. It was then that doctors placed a feeding tube in his stomach and prescribed him formula. But his reaction to the formula created a new kind of problem. "Those first five, six months of him being on a feeding tube, it was constant nausea and vomiting and constipation for him, and he was just miserable," Julie says. "He also wasn't growing like he was supposed to be, and we were miserable, and we were scared."So the Bombacinos started researching and found a community that was blending whole food instead of formula.Brian Liebenow is one of those people using whole food. "Probably 2012 up [until] now, I've been blending my food," he says.Liebenow is an Air Force veteran, who travels the world. But back in 2003, doctors found lymphoma in his tonsils, leading to rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Now, he's cancer-free, but the radiation severely damaged his jawbone. "The last jaw surgery I had in 2009 cut a nerve, and I wasn't able to swallow again after that," Liebenow says. As someone who had been able to eat whatever he wanted for a majority of his life, he wasn't ready to trade in steak and vegetables for formula. So, he started taking a blender to restaurants and feeding himself pureed food through his tube. He became an advocate for what's known as a "blenderized" diet, and another inspiration for the Bombacinos to make a difference in the feeding-tube world. "We're both from big Italian families; we love to eat," Tony Bombacino says.
