CLEVELAND, Ohio - A local Tuskegee Airman who served in World War II was honored and celebrated in a special way on Thursday.Asa Newman who was part of the Tuskegee Airmen— the first African American unit to fly combat airplanes in World War II—recently turned 102 years old.To celebrate this American hero, community members lined the street as law enforcement honked their horns and a crowd waved across the street to Newman.The Aurora Post of the American Legion was there to honor Newman who was surrounded by family and friends.Newman grew up in Cleveland and attended East Cleveland High School. After World War II, he moved to Chicago and attended college at Roosevelt University. He was one of seven children, with three brothers and three sisters. CLEVELAND, Ohio – President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are debating each other for the first time.WATCH LIVE:The 90-minute event will be split up into six 15-minute segments and there will be no commercial interruption.Each of the six segments will be dedicated to a predetermined topic. The Commission Presidential Debates says those topics will include: “the Trump and Biden records, the Supreme Court, COVID-19, the economy, race and violence in our cities, and the integrity of the election.”The topics were chosen by the moderator of the debate, “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace.Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 general election is unlike any other in American history. The threat of COVID-19 has prevented the candidates from campaigning in a way we’ve seen in the past. Trump has still held rallies, but with some precautions taken, while Biden has opted to rely heavily on virtual events and socially distanced speeches.Tuesday night, Trump and Biden will appear on stage together, but far apart and the candidates are not expected to shake hands. The audience will also be smaller than in years past and all in-house spectators will be tested for the coronavirus.This debate will provide both nominees the opportunity to shape the narrative of the election, which has largely been focused on the handling of the pandemic, the push for racial equality, and most recently the vacancy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court.Along with those topics, a bombshell report from The New York Times is sure to be brought up. The “newspaper of record” reported Sunday that it has obtained more than two decades worth of Trump’s tax information. The documents reportedly revealed Trump paid just 0 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017. In 10 of the 15 years before that, he paid no income taxes at all, The Times reports. The president has called the reporting “fake news.”Trump and Biden are getting ready for the debate in starkly different ways. The Washington Post reports that Trump isn’t doing much to prepare, instead relying on his experience at the White House and at rallies. CLEVELAND — A Cleveland website is facing backlash after attempting to be humorous about the foreclosure crisis and sex trafficking. Coolcleveland.com wrote an article about an upcoming gingerbread house making event at restaurant TownHall. In the now deleted post, the site said "the foreclosure crisis left a lot of empty gingerbread houses around Cleveland. Many end up becoming dens for cracker addicts." It also mentioned "gingerbread sex slaves."A spokesperson for TownHall said they were upset by the post. "We are appalled by the article written by Cool Cleveland. CREST, Calif. (KGTV) - The forward rate of spread of the Dehesa Fire burning in East County has been stopped, Cal Fire tweeted just after 5 p.m. The flames broke out about 3 p.m. east of Dehesa and Sloane Canyon Roads near Sycuan Casino, Cal Fire officials told 10News. Sky10 video indicated the flames were on a ridge above the Sweetwater River and Beaver Hollow.By 8 p.m. the fire had burned 200 acres and was 10 percent contained, Cal Fire reported. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office tweeted evacuations were underway for a "handful of structures" at Sycuan Truck Trail and Japatul Road. Employees of the nearby Dehesa School District offices were told to go home. By 8 p.m., all evacuations were lifted. Fire danger was increased due to dry weather Tuesday. Check conditions here."Today will bring mild Santa Ana winds with gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour far inland to the mountains with humidity down to 15 to 30 percent with elevated fire danger," said 10News Meteorologist Angelica Campos.There was no indication of what may have caused the fire.The agency said it had 26 fire engines, 12 hand crews, and 3 water tenders on scene to mop up and construct containment lines Tuesday night.
