Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Viorel Stefan said that Romania has actively participated in the Belt and Road Initiative and "16+1 cooperation" and supported a synergy between development strategies of the European Union and China.

In the first eight months this year, profits of major Chinese industrial firms grew 16.2 percent, manufacturing investment went up 3 percentage points and the consumer market kept expanding.

The veteran diplomat, who spent years in Africa and served as the Chinese ambassadors to Liberia and Zambia, said he had witnessed the development of FOCAC over the years.

He said China is now playing a huge role in terms of international development and providing alternative development agenda to Africa citing the success of the Standard Gauge Railway project in Kenya.

According to William Wijns, a professor from the National University of Ireland Galway who led the clinical study, this is the first time that China's medical device went through randomized clinical trials in Europe at such a scale.
