Don't go to BrettKavanaugh.com looking for information about the nation's new Supreme Court Justice.Someone bought the domain and has turned it into a site dedicated to help survivors of sexual assault.Instead of a Kavanaugh bio or pearls of judicial wisdom, visitors to the site encounter a black-and-white photo of the Supreme Court building along with a simple message: "We Believe Survivors." Below are links to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, End Rape On Campus and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network -- all resources for survivors who are seeking assistance.The URL is hosted by?Fix the Court, a nonpartisan judicial reform organization whose main goal is to fight for honesty and transparency on the US Supreme Court.Even though the site launched this week, the domain was actually purchased three years ago along with a handful of other names of potential Supreme Court nominees."In 2015, as the presidential races were going on, I decided to buy domains of possible candidates for the Supreme Court," Fix the Court Executive Director Gabe Roth told CNN. Fix the Court owns about two dozen domain names, including MerrickGarland.net and JudgeGorsuch.com."I knew that justices that were 75 years old or older could retire, and the upcoming president would need to pick new ones. So I thought of people who could be in line for the job," Roth said.Kavanaugh was narrowly confirmed by the Senate on Saturday after a contentious process that was delayed when Christine Blasey Ford and several other women came forward with allegations of sexual assault and misconduct against him. Kavanaugh vehemently denied all the accusations and endured an FBI investigation requested by the Senate.During Kavanaugh's ceremonial swearing-in at the White House on Monday, President Donald Trump apologized for "the terrible pain and suffering" he and his family were "forced to endure" during his confirmation process.Frustrated by Trump's comments, Roth decided to launch the site Tuesday as a way to put "a national focus on the issue of sexual assault.""Watching the White House ceremony last night and listening to the President again cast doubt on the veracity of Dr. Ford's claims, while not hearing a word of contrition from the newest justice, was difficult for many Americans who have experienced sexual misconduct firsthand," Roth said in a statement.CNN has reached out to the Supreme Court for comment.Roth hopes his website can help survivors while starting a conversation about making the Supreme Court confirmation process more transparent."The entire process was not 100% open to the public. There was information that was not disclosed, and the FBI report was mostly hidden," he said. "This shows that there needs to be more done to make court more open and transparent, and I want to lead that conversation."Roth added that he's not looking to make any enemies and if the Supreme Court asked him, he'd take the Kavanaugh website down or just replace it with original Fix the Court site -- something he plans to do eventually anyway. 3083

Would you go as often if you heard about collisions and damage happening inside?Mark Crotty of Arizona took his new car through a Super Star Car Wash. He says while in the wash, a car two cars ahead somehow came off the rollers. Crotty said the truck in front of him stopped, which caused his car to be sandwiched with the truck and a big SUV from behind. He said that SUV pushed him about 15 feet through the rest of the wash. Crotty says Super Star Car Wash took no responsibility for the damage caused. He ended up paying hundreds to repair damage to his bumpers.Jennifer Chahoud also had damage to her new car. She also said it happened inside a Super Star Car Wash.Chahoud says cars suddenly stopped in front of her and her car was hit. She said for weeks, Super Star claimed they were not responsible.Chahoud said only after complaining to the Better Business Bureau that they paid for repairs to her car.Jake Morrissey says it happened to him too.He said his car was in neutral and his hands were off the steering wheel as all drivers are asked to do. Then his car collided with a car in front and back of him.He said Super Star claimed no responsibility and said it was not their equipment. Instead, he says the car wash blamed another driver.Morrissey said Super Star gave him the driver's name and location and told him to take it up with her. He approached her, but said she denied knowing anything about it and threatened to call the police. He sued, and Super Star blamed this other driver.Morrissey lost and still hasn't had his damage repaired, and he now questions why cars are put on the conveyor belt so closely.Morrissey added he wonders why there aren't sensors that immediately stop the line when there's an issue.JR Ruelas of Super Star Car Wash said these collisions are very rare. He said when they happen, they are usually the fault of the driver.Ruelas said drivers put on their brakes or move the steering wheel taking them off the track.He says in the above cases, the car wash equipment was not the problem.He defended the practice of giving drivers information of other drivers to seek reimbursement.He said Super Star does take responsibility when they are at fault, but couldn't give exact numbers.Ruelas said there are sensors on the conveyor line, but they are not in the middle, where many of these collisions happen.Crotty, Chahoud and Morrissey all said their damage was not their fault, and ask how could it be when they have no control over their car's movement? And they say, they were just stuck.All three of them demanded that Super Star give them a video of their incidents from cameras inside.If you have similar issues, or your car is damaged in another way, make sure to get that video.Also, keep all receipts, file a police report, get damage estimates and push the car wash to reimburse you for the damage.If they don't, you could consider taking them to small claims court. 3076
EL CAJON, Calif., (KGTV) — The combination of good old fashioned police work and advancements in DNA science helped put an Oregon man behind bars after he killed a La Mesa man in 2006. Today, Hon. Judge Robert Amador announced Zachary Bunney's sentence: 12 years in a California prison for voluntary manslaughter. Before his sentence was announced, Bunney read an apology letter to the family of Scott Martinez. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the pain that this has caused the Martinez family. If I could go back in time and change the course of events that led to this, I would. I know that words cannot bring back to life, but I am truly sorry."Bunney referred to the night of June 27, 2006. La Mesa Police said Bunney went into 47-year-old Scott Martinez's apartment and used a sword to stab Martinez 30 times, killing him. For 12 years, Bunney evaded police, and the case went cold. Until this January, investigators linked the killer's DNA left on a bloody tissue paper, to Bunney's distant relative who was registered on a public genealogy database. "The defendant's DNA was uploaded into the system," Deputy District Attorney Brian Erickson said. "A relative of his had uploaded her DNA, and then they do the family tree backwards, and they were able to trace it through that."Detectives discovered that the DNA on the bloody tissue belonged to Oregon resident Zachary Bunney. "I didn't think anything like this would be what cracked the case," Martinez's daughter, Angelina Panek said. By November, Bunney pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. In exchange for dismissing the murder charge, his stipulated agreement was that he would get 12 years in state prison. "The amount of years that he was on the run, and this is the amount of years he is going to be given as a sentence. It was a sign. And I had to take it," Panek said. Panek said she will always wear her father's ashes in her special necklace, knowing that he is watching over her and her family. "I'm just grateful that this day has come.
