(KGTV) — A California Highway Patrol officer found himself in the right place at just the right time this week on a Northern California freeway.CHP officer Jeffrey Lloyd was completing a traffic stop on State Route 99 Monday when an SUV pulled up behind him. A woman in the right passenger seat was going into labor and about to give birth, according to CHP'S South Sacramento office.Officer Lloyd informed dispatch of the situation and gatherer medical equipment to help deliver the baby right there on the freeway. RELATED: San Diego welcomes first baby of 2019 in Chula VistaAs soon as he made it back to the vehicle, he began comforting the mother and helped deliver the newborn girl, CHP says."He carefully unwrapped the umbilical cord from the baby’s head and made sure both mother and baby were stable," according to South Sacramento CHP. "Officer Lloyd notified dispatch of the birth and stayed with the mother and baby until medical personal from the Sacramento City Fire Department arrived on scene."The mother and newborn were transported to a nearby hospital and were said to be in excellent health and resting Tuesday. 1139

(KGTV) — After a weeks-long closure due to mudslides and debris, Highway 18 from San Bernardino to Big Bear Lake has reopened.The highway has been closed since February after heavy rainfall prompted mudslides in some areas, forcing crews to repair damage to the highway.Snow fell on Big Bear Mountain Resort Wendesday with more snow expected Thursday night into Friday, continuing the mountain's flurry of snowfall this season. Currently, officials say they have about 60 inches of snow at the resort's peak and 44 inches at its base.This season, 128 inches of snow have hit the resort, making it prime for locals looking to ski, board, or just frolic in the snow this season.The route into Snow Valley Mountain Resort also reopened as the resort saw 34 inches of snow by Saturday morning. 797

(KGTV and AP) -- A Coronado parachutist jumped out of a plane over Normandy Wednesday, just as soldiers did 75 years ago, according to the Associated Press. The parachutists were honoring the airborne soldiers who jumped into gunfire ahead of the June 6 1944 seaborne invasion. 97-year-old D-Day veteran Tom Rice was among the paratroopers who leapt out of planes that day. According to the Associated Press, Rice jumped in tandem Wednesday into roughly the same area he landed on D-Day. “It went perfect, perfect jump,” Rice said following the jump. “I feel great. I’d go up and do it again.”On D-Day, Rice jumped with the 101st Airborne Division, landing safely despite catching himself on the exit and a bullet hitting his parachute. Rice flew down Wednesday with the stars and stripes flag beneath him, landing with loud applause. Other parachutists jumped with World War II souvenirs, some of which were worn by their grandfathers into battle. Rice said following the jump that he feels he represents a whole generation. (KGTV) - A 5-year-old boy who was reported missing in Los Angeles Saturday night was found safe in San Diego.Police put out an alert Sunday for the public to help find Lorenzo Capriccio. He was reported missing by his mother Saturday evening after he was last seen at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.The boy’s mother told police she thought Lorenzo might be in the San Diego area with a family member.Police said Monday afternoon that Lorenzo was found in San Diego County in good condition with a legal guardian.The circumstances that led to Lorenzo's disappearance were not immediately released. 611
